This is probably one for the Fluff Master, but what army use alot drop pods, termies and dreadnoughts? I am thinking of scrapping the whole Raven Guard idea, as converting Shrike's Wing and being weighed down by that terrible draw back that makes absolutely no sense... really stinks. I am almost tempted to go Ultramarines as they have the hero's, the cool guard, and etc. I am really confused on what to get. Suggestions would be awesome.
So the questions:
1. Army that uses alot of Termies, Dreadnoughts, and Drop Pods?
2. Any suggestion of a army (perferably a unusual one and that is not yellow color)?
1) That I know of, Deathwing (Dark Angels) make a lot of use of Termies and Dreads, but I can't say for sure about Drop Pods.Originally Posted by LictorInTheGrass
2) You might do a 1st (Veteran) Company of any chapter you want, as described on page 68 of the codex. The only problem, of course, would be in the Troops choice and all that, but you could probably find some reason to have Scouts or Tactical Marines.
Then, you could take the trait Heed The Wisdom of the Ancients, and max out on Terminators and Dreads, throwing them in Drop Pods to boot (with the Drop Pod Assault rules).
That's the best thing I could come up with. ^_^ Hope it helps!
Im pretty new at this but isnt there a dark angels company that only consists of terminators? But the colour is like bleached bone.
You beat me to it
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
That would be the Dark-Angels deathwing company. They use Termies, dreadnoughts (all poddable), and the odd land raider. No other troops allowed in this armyOriginally Posted by LictorInTheGrassDark-angels deathwing?2. Any suggestion of a army (perferably a unusual one and that is not yellow color)?
"I have died a thousand deaths, and I will die a million more..."
Errr, just Dreadies, Termies, and LRC? Thats a bit uneconomical... Perhaps I should a different question.
3. What is the most competitive set up of a Space Marine list (custom or existing chapter used)?
The most competitive? That is a question that will draw some peoples' ire...but I think what you are asking is a fair question. There are several things to consider...some chapters get special rules that give them extras. Some chapters are restricted in what they can field as far as vehicles and troop types.Originally Posted by LictorInTheGrass
I have heard the Space Wolves called the cheese Wolves because of thier special abilities. I know that some squads can have 2 or 3 power fists in them, they have scouts that deploy behind your enemy's deployment, etc...They can be a very competitive army, and their color is a light gray.
The ultramarines (which you mentioned you are considering) are possibly the most flexible army out there. They can be tailored to almost any task, but you don't get any traits. I play ultramarines and I LOVE them! If I want to drop pod, I drop pod!! If I want lots of vehicles I put out rhinos, a razorback, predators, vindicator (or whirlwind, or LRC) plus landspeeders. I can go troop heavy, shooty, or CC oriented with PF sgts in every squad, Honor Guards in every squad (where I want them) and a jump-packed chappy with assault marines. Whatever you want, you name it, and the Ultramarines can do it. Plus the Ultramarines get 3 really cool special characters. They may not be worth their cost to some, but they have flavor and Tigurius really kicks butt!!
The thing that makes an army competitive, is how you, the player, play it. It is important to come up with an army you like. Nobody wants to lose all the time, but nobody wants to play against a really cheesy list every time, either...
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Well I was actually thinking of doing 2 squads of Termies(5x) and Dreadnoughts in drop pods with 4 sniper scouts(5x) as troops and 1 Devas squads(10x). The HQ being a Chappy with Thunderhammer with a group of Assault guys. Traits being the Heed the Wisdom of Ancients (another one but I donno)
