Is using the Forgeworld Elysian sentinel the only legal way to have a sentinel armed with a multimelta?
What are the legal weapons available to a sentinel in the latest edition? Can any of these weapon options also be used as Chaos-tainted guard?
I'm not looking for rules snippets, just what's available so that I can work on a conversion. Thanks!
I dont even know if the Multi melta sentinal is entirely legal even in the Elysian rule set. Research it more in the chapter approved section of the GW website.
As far as the weapons availabe. They are Multi-laser, Auto Cannon, Las Cannon and Heavy Flamer.
They can also be fitted with warrior weapons (chainsaws and the like) with the appropriate doctrine.
Yes, chaos tainted guard can take these varients.
It's worth a krak!
In the elysian forgeworld book IA something (4 i think) it adds multimelta and heavy bolter to the weapons options but without forgeworld books id avoid it.
Plus with the drop troops doctrine it would make kind of an unfair unit. Nothin like popin that land raider with a cheap sentinal dropping outa no where.

If someone helps you, or you just like what they say, rep them
not really unfair as the elysians dont have much else capable of taking on tanks quickly! As for using it as a non drop unit that would be rather pointless due to the range itd die far too fast. But i sort of agree as id never take one unless i played elysians or a very similar army.
Thanks for the replies. The multimelta looked really cool held against the side (which was 90% of why I wanted to do it) but I think I'll go for an autocannon since that looks equally chaos-y and would also be more broadly playable.
Oh, here's another odd question: can you put a hunter-killer on a sentinel? I have some of the old boxy ones that would look really brutal bolted on a chaos sentinel.
Yes it is possible to put hunter killer missles on a sentinel.

Hunter killers IMHO should only ever go on sentinels. not only do they look good but they also help if you deep strike and need just that extra bit of punch before dying although playing chaos you cant do that but i think you get the point of when they are needed lol.
I dont know what a Sentinel with a Multimelta costs but i would guess that a 5 man vet squad with 3 metla guns would cost around the same and have a better chance of taking out its target.
I think the reson the elysians can use them is because they cant take vets or put many weapons in there squads and the fact that most of there army is BS3 (I think)
One thing that we sould have is the option of having a heavy bolter on our sentinels as most of the time AP4 would be more useful then 1 more point of strength.
"Hey sarge, this lasgun is heavy. I wish we had something lighter."
FF7: ABOUT RANDOM BATTLES
The multi-melta sentinel costs the same as a lascannon sentinel without upgrades, so it just comes down to which you prefer for anti tank. I own Imperial Armour 3.
