Just wanted to get you guys input on this. I always use the Sentinels in single model units so that extra hits don't overflow onto the other guys. I still walk them around together most of the time but this way you can only shoot or assault one of them instead of all three. Does anyone use them in units of two or three and if you do explain why and how well it works. Thanks.

The only reason I can see for wanting/needing to use Sentinels in squads of 2-3 is simple - you need the Fast Attack slots for other things, and you want more than one Sentinel. I could see it working, but I'm very much of the opinion that single Sentinels will do a lot more for you.
ya, all the reasons you pointed out are the best, and if one sentinel is imobalized, the entire squad cannot move until the one is destroyed, correct?
You can move out of coherency with the immobilized model, but then the immobilized model will be destroyed.Originally Posted by The Count
And Sentinels should always be used in squads of 2 or more. Not only because using squadron units in groups of one is frowned upon by alot of players, but also for victory point preservation purposes. In a squad of two, if one sentinel goes down, the other one is still worth the entire squad's points in unclaimed victory points for your opponent, so you could hide that one and the destroyed sentinel won't give your opponent any victory points, because the squadron is still not under half strenght.
I always field them in groups, it's easier to keep track of on the field with all the other stuff running around and what-not.

One thing you could go i take 3 Sentinels with muti-lasers and keep them close to your guard squads and just pick off any transports you can.
Now when the enemy get close move your Sentinel up and charge them if you can, this will tie them up with a armoured units that most troops would need a 6 to even hurt.
This will not work vs powerfists or other powerful weapons like that but it works very well when your playing close combat elder or dark elder who are mostly S3.

FF7: ABOUT RANDOM BATTLES
Unless you have to have them all together id advise you not to. for the simple reason that they are going to be in bolter range or equivalent for most of the game so if they are in a unit theyre going to go down quick.
I also drop mine in you roll for each seperately but with several at least one is going to come in. then it distracts a little or takes something down (multilaser varient is fantastic against dreadnoughts and vypers). then when it is destroyed you have another to come in so harasment keeps going. rarely will only one be taken down if you have them in a squad. its easy victory points. if you lose a weapon on one people will ignore it or if its immobilised. now if its lost its weapon its still victory points that you can hide! If you have two then you have a problem with doing this.
no excuse not to seperate them. You can put them next to eachother if you want and still do all the good bits of a squadron without the bad. If someone frowns upon this then il frown upon their 3 wraithlord/ or 1 monolith or uber tau tank killer army. i can do it i will, dont give points away just cos some stuck up person thinks its unfair if you dont let him rapid fire all of your sentinels to death with one squad!
sorry for the rant all the armies here are so beardy at the mo
Single ones are better.
Heavy weapon teams can only pick off one at a time.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
