The question is which is better playing an army that you want or play the one that is cheap.
I am lookin at 2 options playing mechanized or all infantry ireally want to do mechanized but i am short on cash. The reason infantry is cheaper is because i can get the for a dollar a piece.
thanks for any help
Incorrect. Mechanised is probably the most expensive way build a guard army.Originally Posted by Crusade
However, there is no cheap way of building an Imperial Guard army because of the number of models needed, Imperial Guard is probably the most expensive army to start no matter what kind of army you decide to run, there just isn't an easy way out from that, but with some thinking you could cut down on the costs a bit.
i got away rather cheap as a bought alot at once so the so the manager of the shop gave me 20% off. ask yours if he could give you any % off. if you buy more than 100€ ($) it should generally work.
IMO the price depends on how much conversion you out in. if you play an all infantery army, then the mass of special weapon guys will cost you a lot. 2 guys are 10€ for example. if you convert a plasmagun (using a bolter and a plasmapistol for instand) and the melter (using the flamer) you save 70%.
let's say, you had at least 20 special weapons (all inf. should have more) they would cost 100€. so you'd save 70€ converting them.
If you're choosing between all-infantry and all-mech, than the answer is neither. They'll both end up costing boatloads, whether it is 4 platoons worth of guardsmen or a full armored company. Think about it: a box of guardsmen is good for 2 squads about, and costs the same as a Chimera. Tanks cost more per model, but you need many more models to dod without the tanks
The best way to make a cheap (and winning) guard army is to go combined-arms. Some tanks, some troops. A little conversion work and you can keep the costs down too.
EDIT: Oh. My. I posted right after someone else with a frog avatar. Insane.
there is no cheap way to do a guard army,
you can bring it down by buying it off things like Ebay but you have to be careful there otherwise you could but a cheap army of four different people and ahve an army in four different paint skills and colours
WELL SAID, NO MORE SQUATS THEY ARE DEAD GET OVER ITOriginally Posted by artificer
ummm thanks i think but those werent the aners i am looking for its more like this.
A. play mech which will cost me more but its what i want
B, play infantry which is cheeper cause i can get men cheap around a dollar US a piece
Do what you want. Going into guard isn't cheap either way so cough up the cash and do what you'd rather do.
Look if you dont make an army that you enjoy playing then you will spend more eventually on getting it that way (in the end spending more on stuff that you wont use), just get want you want, its a game you should enjoy it
