Hey guys, just did something I really never thought I'd do with my pure DH list. I sullied it by inducting two armored fist companies into my army. I always knew DH had anti armor deficiecies and that they could easily be made up by inducted IG but I never liked how IG looked....untill I saw a Vostoryn Platoon box. So now I have two Vostoryn (sp?) Armored Fist squads but since I've neglected this side of the imperial forces I'm looking for some advice on how best to use and equip these guys. These armored fist squads are going to be used in both my DH army which has many GK's and a couple Dreds with assault cannons, and my WH army which has Foot slogger sisters and seraphim and not much else at the moment (I need to get in gear on an Exorcist Tank conversion...)
My questions are as follows:
1. What heavy and special weapons should I consider for these guys in 1250pt cities of death fights. (My personal thoughts were Lascannons and either Plasma or Gernade Launchers.) But I also wonder in autocannons might not be a better choice for small points games where lighter armor and more troops are a good possibility.
2. How best to utilize these guys. Do I use their Chrimera (I have multi-laser and Heavy Bolter loadout on) to motor these guys up to take and hold objectives, thus losing turns of fire with the lascannon and probably losing the objective in the assault as a single squad of Guards seems fairly fragile. Or do I leave these guys behind to form an anti-tanks firebase and use my Chimeras as a sort of halfbaked tank-light force to rip up enemy troops and hunt their lighter armor?
3. Have I missed anything or fundamentally messed up how to best use these guys?
And my budget and god willing I plan on sometime in then near future to buy a Leman Russ for more IG armor fun. In general anything you guys who do induct IG would advise me to do would be much apreciated.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
Well basically your guardsmen aren't going to be able to do much like taking and holding objectives. So what u are gonna have to do is use them as sort of a mobile firebase. Dont give them an auto cannon, u might as well have a heavy bolter.

I suggest that you sit them in cover and let rip with their Lascannons. Dont move them if you can help it.
Your Chimeras can roll around taking out light vehicles or act as a mobile screen for your advancing troops or Dreds.
It's worth a krak!
Have a look in the DH FAQ stickied in the forum, it belive it has a few articles on IG in DH armies.
This is the right advice, IMO.Originally Posted by Plasma Catcher
Equip the squad with a Vet Sgt (for Leadership), Plasma Gun (to match the high strenth low AP of the Lascannon), and a Lascannon (because we need Lascannons). Put them in as good cover as you can find, and let them blast away with the Lascannon and Plasma Gun.
As far as the Chimera goes, equip it with Smoke, Improved Comms (if you have deep strikers or a Callidus especially!), and if you have the points, a Heavy Stubber (gives you 9 36" shots!). Let it move 6" and shoot targets on its own. If you have some other armour in your force these will usually get left alone for a while, and are a nice HW platform on its own.
The only other way I like these is to only add a HB to the squad, and a Heavy Stubber to the Chimera. Move to 36" away(if you need to), pop the hatch and fire the HB. That way you get a 3 Multilaser shots, 6 Heavy Bolter shots, and 3 Stubber shots into your enemy. Once the enemy is within 24", you can add the 6 Lasrifle shots from the built in guns. The only negative with this set up is that if the Chimera gets popped the crew in entangled for a turn, and Deamonhunters need more Anti-Tank and usually have the Anti-troop covered.
Armoured Fist squads are a completely underrated addition to a Deamonhunters army, IMO!
