    dread heavy Chapter !!!

Hey does anyone like the idea of a post-great split sister army for the iron warriors? the general idea is they were a daughter chapter of the iron warriors, but when the warriors split they stayed loyal. but most of the chapter was massaccred by their former brothers. The few marines they have left, in order to survive they entombe their dead brothers in dreadnought sarcophigai. they now are a dread heavy chapter ( using up to 6).

    What does everyone think.? Yes/No?
comments , sugestions on army composition, tactics,... whould be awsome?

Why create an entirely new army when a near carbon copy of it exists in the Iron Hands? If you just want a bunch of Dreadnoughts play an army that already has that? If you like the idea you can go for it but they would be separate from the SM as everyone in all those Legions were declared heretics. Also your weaponry should be limited to pre-heresy.

I for one am making an Iron Hands/Warriors (I'll most likely flip-flop between the rules) army basing itself on a "Sons of Malice" *coughMalalcough* aligned anti-Chaos anti-Imperium Dreadnought heavy army.

There are seceral holes in your story. First of all there the second founding was after the Heresy, so there would be no "Daughter Chapters." You could say that they were an Iron Warriors Detachment sent to subdue some planet, and were away from the rest of the legion when they turned traitor. But that probally wouldn't work either, sine it would be my guess that anyone left from the chapters that turned traitor woould have been killed, for fear of a second Heresy, or spies, or vengance... ect...

However, as archon said, the Iron Hands chapter has alot of what you're looking for. Or you could DIY a Sucessor chapter to the Iron Hands. When making your own fluff for 40k, it's best to stay away from big events like the Heresy, the Tyranid invasions. Basically, a good guideline is the less GW has written about it, the more you can write about it.

Iron Hands fluff goes as follows:

Ferrus Manus lands on Medusa, crashing into the highest mountain. Years later he comes down, fully formed and uninjured. He was found to be the strongest person on the planet, by him traveling the planet doing every test of strength there could possibly be, always seaking a worthy opponant. He is known by all the clans and is pretty much made the ruler of the planet, however he never stops the people's conflict amoung eachother, seeing it as healthy. He finds and kills a dragon made of Living Metal by holding it under a lava flow with his bare hands. He pulls them out and they are made of the same living metal. He gains a love for metal and teaches the people how to use and craft it. Emperor comes, they fight they are evenly matched and they become best friends. Ferrus reluctantly leaves the planet to go to his Legion. They are dubbed the Iron Hands and they fight visciously in the name of the Emperor. Ferrus believing that any who opposed the Emperor wished humanity to be weak. He hated weakness and saw it all around him (old/ill) and felt it would be the destruction of humanity.

Heresy hits, the Iron Hands are far away so Ferrus and all the men he could fit in his fastest ships zoom to Istvaan V where they were landing on the planet when 4 of the 7 legions there attacked the other 3, Ferrus turns to fight but there numbers are few and they are defeated.

The Iron Hands now hate the traitors with a passion and they will never forgive the Ravenguard or the Salamanders for failing to follow their Primarch, for if they had the outcome would not have been what it was. The Legion (minus it's Vetrans who had been with the Primarch) were forced to return to Medusa. Over time they began to hate many of the other Legions for failing to save the Emperor. Their anger against weakness grows and grows and it becomes their guiding force. They see flesh as weak and replace their own with bionic parts. They now pretty much run around killing anything they see as weak, even members of the Imperium. And they dispise outsiders.

They are friends with the Adeptus Mechanicus of Mars and the best warriors are sent to become Techmarines. The best Techmarines become Iron Fathers (their version of Commanders). And the best Iron fathers gradually become Dreadnought-esque. They love their Dreadnoughts and have decent numbers of them. Also they don't have many Terminators.

Oh, and, though the Iron Hands hate them, they are loved by the Inquisition.

They probably won't get a Codex as they are listed in the Traits section. But their traits are Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients (Dreadnoughts) and Scion of Mars (Iron Fathers and the ability for squad leaders to get Terminator Armour, though to stay true to the fluff you won't be having Terminator squads). Their drawback is Eye to Eye (but that's okay because us tech heads don't care about fast attack).

    Go for it.
I'd like to see a bunh of Dreads advancing the line and besieging the enemy. It's an intersting idea, rather than just using the Dreads thing for those 2 Venerables with versetile positioning (like I do).

Do it. It's like cheesy 'Nid players who have a buttload of Whatever-fexes and tyrants on the board, but I think 6 dreadnoughts has more class than that. They can have a bunch of different weapons, supporting each other and such. I think it would be nasty, especially if you have supporting marine squads helping them out.

You don't have to play Iron Hands if you don't want to. I think their paranoia and hatred of anything but themselves gets a bit dramatic, but some people dig it. You can make your own fluff, too, if you want. Thats the beauty of traits.

Most importantly of all, have fun!

*In line w/ the fluff you have in mind, a Inquisitor could have seen fit to preserve this remnant of the Iron Warriors. He might use them towards his own designs as a personal strike force. Or, more likely, they find out where they are the most useful and fight without revealing their origins (since everyone would assume that they are 'tainted'), in various campaigns across the galaxy. A company of marines with SIX dreads stomping across the battlefield would always be welcome in a siege!

Hey, they don't hate everything but themselves... They also like the Adeptus Mechanicus.

But I'm just saying he should take them as they are Dread heavy and that seems to be all he wants.
