I love the whole idea with the blood ravens. I was thinking about going for
HQ-Commander and Chaplain both CC beasts
Elites-1 squad of termies, 2 long range dreadknoughts
Troops-3 small scout squads one for CC, one with snipers, one with bolters
2 six man tatical squads
1 full tatical squad
Fast Attack-1 full assultist, 1 lascannon razorback, 1 h.bolter razor back
Heavy support-Land Raider......
I cant use an Anaillator so should i go with a crumy destructor tank instead and give it bolters for crowd control?
I have an old whirlwind but it looks bad and eventually i'll get rid of it. Should i but a new one, or go with something else?
what do you think of my plan over all?
You do know Blood Ravens use alot of librarians right? You should probably use more of those instead of Chaplains and Captains.
i knew someone was going to say that. I want an effective army, and i just dont feel that libriarains are worth the points. what do you think?
Librarians are incredible, I think.
Force Weapons, psychic hoods, powers. This is all very good.
When kitted up, they tend to only be marginally more expensive than a captain or master.
Plus, their powers can be good for crowd control especially low Ld or save.
Plus, a captain really isn't a CC beast, leave that for the Chappy. Captains tend to provide a support role, providing leadership and some backup in CC.
Try vindicators, they pack just about the same punch as an annihilator and costs about the same as a kitted predator.
Whirlwinds are good in any army, just give them a try and see if it fits your gaming strategy.
If you want an effective army take a look at your troop choices again. They are somewhat unfocused. Why so many scouts when the blood ravens can infil already for a cost. And when infiltrating....what weapons are u arming your tactical squads with?
Landraiders tend to be useless other than fire magnets but its worth a try if u like them.
Do you know many points your army is right now?
Raven Claws Space Marine Chapter........2500 points

This is a city fighting army.
HQ CC comander
Dreadknoght one lascannon plus missle luancher
Dreadknought two lascannon pluss assult cannon
5 man sniper scout squad
5 man CC scout squad...when i dont need the pts i drop them-i already have them.
5 or 10 man bolter scout squad with heavy bolter-Crowd control.....ill drop this squad
2 six man tac squad supported by Razorbacks one with h.bolter, another with lazcannons
10 man tac squad for Shock defense-missle luancher plasma gun
10 man assult squad
LandRaider for tanks, crowd control, deversion-rather have them firing at the raider then me marines,
my oppenents will be Crons, Nids, Nurgle, Black Templar, tau empire.
does this help you?
all the armor is to hit the enemy hard

Scouts snipers should hv a ML thrown in for extra punch against those MCs u shoot at.
Other than that, ur list will have real problem against Crons and Tau due to all those vehicles. Dreds, Razorbacks and LRs dont particularly bother them and when they railgun/gauss u, those tanks will go POP! sooner than u could blink.
PS. It'd really help if u tell us what points this is!
I went to givy my armor the best equiment i can give them and by golly they shall have it. The vehicles are there to move my troops out of harms way, or move them into harms way, what ever works. With the razorbacks and dreads thats less attention on the crusader and the annilator-the more important tanks. the longer the 2 main tanks are alive, the more destructoin they will cuase. if the 2 main tanks are targeted, that means 4 mini vechiles get to fire a wreak havoc. The more time my oppenent thinks about what to shoot at frist thats less attention on the troops.
Whats wrong with haveing an armored company of marines?
What do you think of my idea fellas?
I think if you're already set against having Librarians, less Vehicles and so on, then no advice is going to sway you... arguing against useful suggestions doesn't help.
A Blood Ravens force uses infiltration and librarians to good effect, use this to your advantage - dont play against it!
OK, you seem a bit unfocused.
If you want a purely win-everything-I-can army, then it is a far better idea to figure out what traits will suit you plan, and use them, rather than use a set of traits that have already been devised.
The Blood Raven traits are definately more towards the fun-n-fluffy end of the spectrum, rather than the win-all-the-time end.
Secondly, if you are trying to go for competative, then going for a mechanised force is not a good idea. The current transport rules are not very friendly to the troops inside them, and you will be much better off either buying your squads infiltrate, or using drop pods.
Thirdly, if you are going for Blood Ravens, you really should take a Librarian. If you are going for a short ranged shooty army, then they are the perfect choice. Thier ranged powers are fantastic, and they aren't slouches in CC either. They do tend to end up fairly expensive though.
Finally, if you want some real help with your army list, then it is a good idea to post:
a) the total points cost for individual units, and the entire army,
b) accurate details of how many members each squad has, and what each squad is equipped with,
c) ditto, but for vehicle upgrades,
d) a few notes on how you invisage the army working, and finally
e) the army should be in a new thread, in the army lists section
I hope that was useful for you
