That's the question... So if I scream up in a Immolator filled with a Dominion Squad with 4 flamers, lay them on top of a marine squad, get off Divine Guidance, any to wound rolls of 6 are AP1?
Any chance the TL heavy flamer from the immolator gets the advantage as well?
Wheels are turning....
Yes, the dominoes get ap 1 on any 6's for their flame templates.
Remember, you have to resolve the templates one at a time. Four templates is great on paper, but loses potency around the third flamer if your opponent is smart. He will remove casualties so less models will fall under the templates.
Sadly, no, the Immo doesn't get the faith act.
Thanks, thats a good point about the flamer return on investment.... I had thought I'd bunch them together, but now I see the wisdom of spreading them out... Is a retributor or a rhino a better choice then a immolator due to hving a 10 strong squad?
Thats a really good question and one that really depends on the player. The dominoes are good because they can take four special weapons. They are bad because you pay more for those weapons than you do with regular sisters or celestians.
I think Immo's can be a good vehicle if you have enough other vehicles so you can screen them across the board. I think most sister players try out the 4 flamer dominoe set up with an Immo. Having 5 flame templates is seductive .
Ten dominoes in a rhino I haven't ever tried for the simple fact that I personally would rather make them celestians giving the VSS an evis. But honestly, its a very viable alternative if you really want those extra weapons.
Its a shame they can't be heavy flamers. While DG on a flame template is nice, getting the extra str on a heavy flamer has made a big difference in my games.
I have been toying with taking a 2 flamers, 2 MG dominoe set up running in a Immo near my main mech force. Funny enough, I played a mech guard game last week. He had 3 Russes. My Exorcists bounced all their shots off his armor. My girls in the rhinos knocked out all three tanks with their melta guns.
I do this faithfully:
I have a 6 model Dominion Squad with 4 meltas mounted in an Immolator with twin heavy flamers. Its devastating against everything.
"The sword that takes life gives life."
No it lasts for the unit's entire shooting phase. It doesnt carry over to the assault phase so you would have to re-do the act. But every model of the unit (except for the transport) gets DG.
Its a little sticky about order of shooting but generally, I lay my 1st template and then roll for DG. Then do the next one and so on until my bolter shots. Some people will try and make you fire your bolters first so they can remove casualties and lessen your flamer's effectiveness.. But laying the template constitutes firing the weapon.
