Besides trying not to have the first turn, any advice out there on how to fight drop pods with drop pods?
I am going to play in a a round robin soon with my new pods, but anther guy is bringing a similar poding army.....
I don't really know what to tell you. If he drops in first, then just position so you can shoot at him with your podding units. If he has a shooty army, follow through with an assault. If his army will win in close combat, then stay back and shoot. Keep bunched together so your squads don't get isolated and picked off.

My advice, is to use army composition to your advantage, if you have more squads coming in, you can use the first few squads to come in and support eachother, and to "bait" his pods close.
The next turn, you should be podding in even MORE guys, pod them in to "sandwich" his squad between your original squad and your incoming squad to rapid fire them to death. If you can, do it so he can't do the same thing to you, right outside of cover, etc, so if he comes in yet on the OTHER side of your guys you have some cover to help you.
Drop podding vs drop podding is a lot like two all-infiltrating armies going at it, its a lot of positioning and maneuvering your troops so they don't get isolated and blown up piece-mail.
hope this helps.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
First, go second if possible, this way his pods will land and be able to to nothing.
Take lots of tactical squads, with powerfisted sgts. Cleanse and pureify with two plasma guns will do well against a drop poding army - since they shouldnt have much armour, other then the drop pods. However youll need trusty melta guns as you wont just be fighting this guys list.
There will be a new drop poding tactica available soon.
If you go first play for mission, try to bunch up your forces.
Cleanse and purify will work wonders, and trust your battle brothers also works well.
This game will likely be desided by dice - who ever goes first will probably lose, but if one player gets lucky/unlucky that will probably be the largest factor in the game.
One advantage to going first is that you will now be able to shoot and assault him when they drop instead of just shooting them when you drop. That is, if you are facing an opponent you want to assault.
Are both lists full drop pods, or just partials? If it's the latter then dropping yours near an expensive or strategic unit will make him react to you, which is always better.
Meltas, IMO, are perfect for this roll.
If he has a true DP list (no units on the board on turn one) then yes, by all means, go second.
Okay now there a few important things to consider. First off, are you playing missions, and if so, which ones? As an example if your playing secure and control (I think that's the right name) you need to control the center. In a case like this, you might want to go first so you can surround the center and keep your oppenent from dropping there before you.
Another odd mission would be recon. In that case its kinda a toss in the air, you want guys in his deployment zone, but you need to be able to hurt him. And of couse your reserve rolls can determine how you play as well.
