This is not about how expensive FW DP's are. It is about the options they offer.
Has anyone ever used them, even by proxying the model but using the rules?
I was looking at their website and they have 1- missile launcher drop pods, 2-assault cannon drop pods, 3-multi-melta drop pods. They are essentially the same. They have four guns that faced outward like a compass (Norht-south-east-west-style) and apparently they shoot every round using Power of the Machine Spirit ballistic skill 2.
They look cool, and are a cool idea, but I have never played using any forgeworld models except for some Nid players here who break out these really gross bugs that basically do anything he wants and can't be killed!
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Well, i wouldnt use them, as apparenty half the value of a drop pods goes to your opponent, so keep the pod cheap, but if you really want one, id use the AC one.
As your almost granteed to score at least one hit per round with it at BS 2 - unlike all the other guns.
Actually, thats not how they work. I had a chance to peek in a buddy's Imperial Armor (he has sinse moved) and while I cannot say exactly how they do work due to LO's Rules, I can say this; they shoot for 1 round only but they target ANY and ALL units within a certain radius.
I will say no more and if the Mods feel this reveals too much I will gladly edit it out.
