ok i have my demolisher battle tanks and now have only ONE problem. plasma cannons or multi-meltaguns?
i'm a big fan of plasma cannons but the demoisher is short rnaged anyway so the melt guns wouldn't be to dissadvantaged. and they are better up close
personnally i'm thinking of going plasma.
regular opponents are power armoured grey knights, blood angels. necrons. chaos and now it seems the orc and tau are going to have a shot as ell. only thing I don't fight often is bugs
Yeah I have that same problem. I figured two plasma cannons are the way to go; they give you the long range that the demolisher is lacking. And the blast templates from 2 plasma cannons can inflict high casualties among those high armor troops everyone loves. Now all you need to worry about is rolling to hit.
Yeh id go with plasma cannons , cause you never going to get you demolisher withing 12" of an other tank to properly use the melta.
id go without...the chance is that you will be moving to get within range, therefore you cant shoot all of them, then when your close enough./..u will use your ordinance, then wont be able to shoot with them!
so your best bet is to slap a lascannon on the front (maybe you will b able to use that if you demolisher cannon gets blown off. because this tank draws a shitload off firepower, then it goes boom...and your sponson weapons get useless again...their simply not worth the points!
I agree with Drozzy, plus adding Plasma Cannons makes it a bit of a drain on pts. I find whenever my friend fields a vindicator against me, it never gets to fire the ordance because I reck it when it gets to close .. Like say within 36".

I've gone with the Anti-personnel option: i.e. Heavy Bolters in hull and Sponsons.
With the TVR, this means I can either fire my Demolisher Cannon, or all 3 heavy bolters, even if I've moved.
With the plasmas you have a chance of moving 6" and still fire something with an oomph... the short range of the demolisher cannon means you wouldn't be fireing anything until turn 3, possibly turn 2...
I'd go with the plasmas...
Remember, you can move and fire your Demolisher cannon too...although it is a little risky...
Plasma Cannons all the way since you need something long ranged to fire before you get to 24''
@isitused: yes you can if you are using the Trial Veichle Rules and when you just have to roll to hit
