No assassin once so ever
This discussion for all IG players who at some point of their lives or on an everyday use came to use one of the inquisitorial assassins. I woud like to know which is your favorite as well as what questions, complains and compliments you might have about them just so new players and players that never used them will get an idea about what the assassins are capable of and how they should be used.
Me personally, my favorite is the Vindicare assassin. I use him pretty much in every one of my battles, its either him or an eversor. Anyway his rounds are very usefull, the turbo peneterator inflicts 2 wounds and has 3D6 vs vehicles, you will probably want to avoid shooting at a monolith but smaller things like piranhas and sentinels are still a good target to fire at. The 2 wound vs character rules is also amazing since you can pretty much snipe out a dark eldar drachon in one shot, or any other 2 wound character or if u simply want to take 2 wounds off of a carnifex or a hive tyrant. Hellfire is the best round with its 2+ wounding, it kills pretty much anything unless you have a awfull roll. It can knock out the last wound of any character. The shield breaker isnt as widely used since all it does is ignore invulnerable save, against seer council and shadow field i find it very usefull however.
Overall I think vindicare is great but most of the time he doesnt pay for his points even though he gives you a certain tactical advantage. I dont usually try to kill 3 wound characters but rather focus on 2 wound and 1 would squad leaders. Ap2 Exitus rifle ignores all armor saves so I was actually fortunate enough to knock out a carnifex once or twice which more then paid for its points. I just stick to killing al those sergeants, exarchs and smaller units that are usually 50 points of value or less. usually i get away with 4-5 kills per game so most of the time I think he is very usefull especially for making others test for night fight vision when wishing to fire at him
Anyone who has used a celluxes assassin against eldar knows just how good that thing is. Once you approach the Farseer and warlocks, the Animus Vitea turns into the most beautiful thing in the world. Then you always have the psyk-out grenades, then my favorite Life Drain. Apart from the celuxes the only assassin i ever really use is a vindicare. Good night space marines heavy weapons.
Rheagar fought nobly
Rheagar fought valiantly
Rheagar fought honorably
And Rheagar died.
omg:w00t: best to use is the vindicare assassin!!! this is because he can take out enemy characters that are a pain, heavy weapons, hidden fists, tank destroyers and probably some other stuff too.
i'm planning to use one when mine is painted:yes: . beware though because you must take an inquisitor lord in order to take an assassin
JOIN MY SQUAD IN THE SONS OF THE LIBRARIUM THREAD, I NEED TACTICAL MARINES! I PLAN TO CONVERT UP A SQUAD TO "COUNT AS" LoTD IN MY SMarine ARMY
Death-cult. Using a allied Witch hunter group (I think you can do it with daemonhunters too). They are much cheaper then any other kind of assassin, and, since nobody ever uses them, nobody knows how to counter them. Thats what the problem with most of the main assassins is, since they are used so much, everyone and their dog knows how to deal with them before they become a major threat.
And, the best thing about the Death-cult assassins, is they look good. The other assassins look kinda dumb in my opinion, where as the death cult are very slick looking.
I play my 40k with friendly fire.
Finally fixed the link!
I'm still struggling to understand why an assassin would come to a battle with only 3 special bullets. Talk about unprepared. (vindicare)
Not like they are tank shells and heavy to carry lol
A proffessional sniper lives for one shot, after it has been fired and the target is destroyed the sniper becomes expendable. And besides, a rifle that big uses heavy bullets and considering the fact that he has the suit, mask and pistol I think he neds to be pretty damn strong to carry so much stuff while staying mobile to snipe things out and climb into good cover places.
When playing with my IG, my favorite is the Eversor, with the Callidus a close second.
With an IG army, people are going to come at you almost no matter what, because you are a shootier army than just about anyone. Weather it is an Eldar Wraithlord an Marine Assault squad the enemy will generally come at you. The Eversor is a perfect counter-assault unit. He is great against infantry with all those hits, he can take out moving tanks, and can even lay a licking on Montsrous Creature like a Carnifiex. The Eversor is tougher to use when you are the attacking army like Grey Knights, but againt an army that you know is going to come at you, he's NAILS .
The Callidus is great for IG armies as well for a couple of reasons. She automatically lands and assaults wherever you want her to. Her Neural shredder is wicked against all but Necrons and some Chaos units. She can take out a Farseer, Necron Lord, and Etherial, as well as that pesky Devastor squad or Necron Destroyers, Oh My....... One little tip in using her is to take Improved Comms with your IG vehicles. This way you won't have to wait too long for her to come in and do her stuff! Her real benefit to bringing her is to get into and damage enemy lines that we will never get to.
The one guy I actually don't like too much for my IG army is the Vindicare. We have enough high strength lo AP guns already, and he is not an independant Character so once the enemy gets close (which they will do against an IG army) he is Vulnerable by turn three usually.
Hope this helps. I use Assassins a lot in my Deamonhunter Army as well, and this has been my experience.

I like Vindys, but Death Cult come close. I chose them on a similar poll just to demonstrate that. Death Cult you don't waste two plasma guns worth of points on one model as a down payment. You just get straight to the killing.
If you like Vindicare, the way I see it, you can't have enough shooty, really, if that is your strength. Sometimes the way to compensate for a lack of CC is to kill 'em all at range. Now, the balanced approach also makes sense, so the Eversor is a decent choice too. Culexes is pretty specialized, great on Eldar. Callidus is good if you like giving your opponent a mind fek. It really depends on your situation, but in the end, I'd take a Vindicare. Though I'm considering a Culexes the next time I face an Eldar army with several nasty psykers...
I thought that you could only take one elite choice from the witchhunters/demonhunters codex, and seeing as the little inquisitor is an elite choice, alongside the assassin, we can only take one or the other? I could be wrong, as often seems to be the case.Actually you can get away with a piddly little Inquisitor if you want.
I take the vindicare assassin, simply 'cos I think it looks cool. And the irrational fear it manages to strike into the enemy! In my mind, its also possibly the most tactical of the lot, with the ability to maybe not actually take out its own weight in points value, but the abilty to kill aspiring champion wannabe bloodthirsters/vet powerfist sergeants/plasmacannon marines/etc is fantastic.
More often than not it doesn't manage to do anything much for me though, for some reason. Probably luck has something to do with it. Although, in the last battle, in the first few shots it destroyed a land raider, killed a powerfist assault sergeant, and wounded (twice) sicarious. Sweet! (but not the norm by a long shot.)

Also, you should google "garfield minus garfield". Awesome.
