Hey there. I have been considering in getting a assulty type of Space Marine army and ive decided to either be Black Templars or Space Wolves. Tell me your opins and why i should go either of these Chapters. ONLY THESE!!!! Thnx
I say, if you have the cash, get both and combine them; that way you can play either one whenever you feel like it. Its not to hard to do either, since when chapters fight alongside each other during campaigns they end up altering their armour to not only show their honours and their chapters honours but also of their allies. (Many different forms and ways to show this, a simple exampl is to paint the colours of the other chapter on the kneepad or even on the shoulder pad opposite the chapter shoulder pad or even going as far as using those colours while displaying the marines given chapter badge over it.)
Why settle for just one of the two when your mind is currently set on both...
Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand; I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.

Well, I'm no expert but from what little I've gathered it seems to me that BT are a bit more limited in choice of troops, like over a certain points limit you have to include the emperors champion to make the list legal, which is a huge points sink in small games. From what I remember there is something more, anyone who knows for certain please let me know.
About the SW, for me, from an outside view they look to be an awesome force to be reckoned with, sure they didn't get the HQ updates in the Vanilla codex but that's not a huge problem.
The only thing I would be apprehensive about is that there are so many people playing both SW and BT, I'd consider making your own chapter based on the rules of either just to get some variation. Unless this isn't about attacking strengths and more about fluff.
I hope I've been to some help, probably not though.
edit: oh! and in case you've missed them, here are some great posts about both SW and BT.

I personally prefer Space Wolves as they have great fluff, colour scheme and some excellent novels written about them.
You would probably be better off with Black Templar though. The newer codex and all.
Check out my Codex: Farmyard Animals here!
If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
The SW Codex is indeed ancient and in neeed of a re-boot.
But BT are not as cool, fluffy or flexible as SW. BT might be slightly more effective on the battlefield, but I could never bring myself to play them and, to be honest Black is a rubbish colour-scheme making them look identical to Raven Guard, Iron Hands, Black Dragons, Black Legion and a host of others.
SW Grey is a very nice colour-scheme in my opinion.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
I play BT (my best friend plays SWs), and if I had to do it again, I would go SWs.
The BT are more of an infantry horde type army (generalizing here) with very few specialists (compared to SWs) in each squad. They are great when combined with Chaplains, however, and 20-man squads are just ridiculous on the charge. I like the look of the BT models better, however.
SWs, on the other hand, are still a assaulty army, but are a bit more generalized with some effective mid-range shooting. They make an excellent drop pod army (I think perhaps, one of the best). They have a larger variety of units that allow you to hit from longer range (besides the vehicles of the BT), and each unit can have a bunch of PFs/PWs to help the charge hit home.
Even though they look a bit similar on the surface, they are suprisingly different. I've played the BT since they came out, and I've beginning to get a bit tired of them (they are fun to play, but pretty one-facetted to be effective, even if you make them "shooty").
Just my opinion, I hoped it helped a bit.

Id go with space wolves, better list, slighty worse models, but you can use any models to reprosent space wolves.
Wolves have a solid foot slugging or drop pod options. Avoid rihno rushing.
But as darkreever suggests, combining them might be the funest thing for you to do.
SWs all the way
loads of fluff loads of character and above all lots of close combat troops.
and you have to love the bloodclaws especially in units of 15.
