im looking at starting WH and running an IL and i was curious, do you prefer using SoB with the IL or do IST's work better? and yes i have looked at the stats between the two
Legion Of Everblight: Abyslonia
Protectorate of Menoth: Grand Exemplar Kreoss
Generally, Inquisitorial Storm Troopers are filler units, usually bought to get the weapon on a Chimera.
But by a direct comparison, Battle Sisters tend to far out do the IST's
Its just a simple matter of stats. The Battle Sisters get access to some great equipment that is otherwise in accessible to the Inquisitorial Storm Troopers...and have the Faith Points.
They have bolters too...
My advice, take IST's for filler units. The Battle Sisters should be a mainstay of your army. (Unless you want allied Space Marines )
Yes I normally only field two 5 man squads of IST's with GL's or PG's simply to get an IL and all the goodies he comes with.
I prefer to fight purely Sisters however and rack up as much Faith as possible (I frequently have 11 or 12 Faith points in a 2,000 point army).

Or you could be like me and swim against the current and take only IST...
In the grim darkness of the far future...NO ONE SUSPECTS THE IMPERIAL INQUISITION!
Yes...I know...I'm unethical...

I play all sisters, though I'm thinking of bringing in a 5man IST squad or two with chimeras and PG's as tank killers.
Though I like the fluff of an all girl army, a difference to the boys club of the Inquisition.
OK, I'm feeling stupid... what's an IL? Other than the state I live in.
It's an Inquisitor Lord.
To be honest, I'd rather take some Inducted Guard over the IST's. The Guardsmen are twice in number and they get better weapon options.
I have fielded an IL with inducted Space Marines. All my lists are at home on the computer there so I don't have it handy to share. I do remember taking 2 Predators and 3 Penitent Engines as Heavy Support, Repentias witha Priest as Elites, two IST squads of 5 troops each, a SM Tactical Squad, 5 SM Scouts w/ Sniper Rifles, Bikes for Fast Attack, and I'm thinking an Assassin (probably Calidus). The SM choices were dictated largely by what I had accumulated over the years from bargan bins and players who had given me a few figures here and there as I am not a SM player. I thought this army had a good fluffy feel. The first time out I got trashed of course vs Marines, then had a draw against IG, and then on its 3rd and last time I wiped out a 2,000 point White Scars force with minimal losses on my side. Karamazov really came into his own on that day.

As has been stated, I prefer say, a 2:1, or 3:1 ratio of Sisters to IST. SoB take up your main troop slots, whilst the IST are there forim looking at starting WH and running an IL and i was curious, do you prefer using SoB with the IL or do IST's work better? and yes i have looked at the stats between the two
a) Suicide metla
b) Plasma Guns
d) Cheap Troops
I'd take them over guardsmen for the save, and better BS - for what I use them for anyways. They cost less too, so you can pop a squad in if you've got, say, 70pts to spare.
I would go against using them as your main troops. For 1pt more the SoB get a much better deal.
I also like to use my IST in squads of five to Min/Max the squads and weapons for maxiumum benefit.
The models are damn cool (Karskin that is) so I would use a small squad even for that. I also like the fluffy appeal that a group of silent, elite, soldiers bring to a group of wild zealots. Contrasts nicely, as if your IL has his own little force that are their for their own secret agenda, unknown to the sisters.
To conclude: Maybone 1, or 2 squads of 5 with specific support roles desigend add a nice feel to the army, playing and fluffiwse. However, stick with SoB for the majority of the troops.
Hope that helps.
