Put up a sample army list you wrote on the SM army lists board and we'll analyze it from there.
We can't write your lists for you.
Note how he said the "Army list" board, too?
A lot of members forget that.
And I'd avoid using Missile Launchers. Assault Marines are what you need, too. For a traditional list anyway.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
I'm sorry to say it but the honour guard just isn't worth its points. It can deliver a nasty punch, but it's way too expensive and vulnerable.
You need tac squads and scout squads, 7-8 guys in each so that you a) have some bodies in the list and b) have lots of chances to test for the Death Company.
I have to agree about the Honor Guard. They are lethal if you have the points to comfortably afford their price. In smaller games they just plain chew up too many points and become a fire magnet.
MLs are the best weapon in the marine arsenal - flexible and cheap, especially in a tac squad. Every tac squad should have a ML or LC in it. Tac squads are the only squad that should have LCs. Use the tac squad without considering the LC. If you have the opportunity to kill something with it, do so but don't tie down the squad waiting for a target.
Don't forget about your dev squads. A lot of BA players don't like them because of the Black Rage. It's been inconvenient in some games but rarely crippling. ML and HB dev squads are the cheapest options and are frequently given lower target priority by opponents who don't know better. The more expensive heavies in a dev squad (LC, PC) usually draw your opponent's attantion.
Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will let you know in a major way.
Not all the Emperors Children turned coat. We will redeem our name.
