The Deathwatch rules and models look pretty interesting, and shouldn't be expensive to build (just need a handful of models with the right weapon/shoulderpads, and a good paint job, eh?), but I'm wondering: Does anyone have a good amount of in-game experience with these guys, and if so, how useful did you find them? Is there a current tactica advising how best to use them?
The Deathwatch are a nice unit capable of killing quite a few of the enemies.
Funy thing is they're somehow better at killing the Alien Races (Eldar, Necrons, Orks, etc.) than Imperial =][=, and Chaos enemies. Which is a bonus.
They're expensive, and these expenses quickly add up to more than a Termie squad of the same size and easily so.
Of the specialty ammunition I'd use the Hellfire bolts if I remember the effects right. Lightning claw Bolter rounds isn't to be sneezed at.
As far as Veterans go, they're supposeldy bad, but one with a Powerfist, and/or one with 2 claws will do good in a squad 7 or more strong.
Don't forget those scrumptious Heavy Bolters.
All I can really tell you.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
Thanks all. I'm assuming since I'm playing Dark Angels then I can't use Deathwatch (no allies, bummer), but I'm tempted to make up a kill team just for fun, or find a way to work them into my Daemonhunters army.
I love the models and fluff but i don't find them to be worth their points in game. I use a squad of 6 with a captain, 2 heavybolters, 2 bolters and veteran with LC's. They would be alright for IG but for space marines their points are better spent elsewhere. They are a mobile fire support squad that can hold ther own if charged, thy are basically glorified 13th Comapny Grey Slayers.
