Are they the same or not? Just going by what's in each codex, the IG chimera seems far nicer. It has six fire points, is aphibious, and also has a gun point on top (at cost of "open topped"). Or are they supposed to be the same but it's just bad write-over?
I'd sure as hell like to have amphibious + 6 fire points + turrent mounted gun point, but I'm not sure if I get em
no we only get to use what is in our codex not anyone elses:cry: , even if stuff is better.
how i wish it was true that we could use stuff from SM codex ( am i right GK players).
not to complain or anything but we sort of need an upgrade on our codex
- adimatium capes
- venerable upgrade
- stuff is sometimes cheaper

That's weaksauce. Though it certainly appears as though it should have those upgrades/changes and it seems like it's simply an issue of older/outdated codex. then again, you'd think there'd be errata for it... but there isn't so...
Deamonhunter Chimeras don't get Heavy Stubbers, or IG specific add ons, but the basic Vehicle is the same.

A chimera is a chimera is a chimera, as far as statistics and basic abilities. As Diggums notes, though, you only get the weapons and upgrades options listed in the DH codex, though.
Supporting implication: even the DH chimeras giving rides to inquisitors and ISTs are piloted by Imperial Guardsmen. Says so right in the book!
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

This post is exactly like the post about whether the Land Raider is like the GK Land Raider...which always ends up with everyone complaining about how we need a new FAQ or some Errata, which we probably aren't going to get until alien hunters comes out in a decade.
My advise, play with whichever Chimera you like, but always explain why you chose your chimera to your opponent before the game. Also check with tournament organizers before trying this in a tournament.
Daemonhunter Codex--Needs less explaination, just say you are playing out of your codex and you refuse to change your codex until Gamesworkshop tells you to.
Imperial Guard Codex--They changed the Chimera (evidenced by the only available model for it) so I am using the new chimera from the guard codex that replaced the out of date chimera that was in the Daemonhunter codex (which is the sme as the chimera in the older guard codex).
I'm with Diggums and number6 on this one -- I'd use the version from the most current codex. I'd also add that you should use the points values listed in our codex. We already have a similar official ruling for the Assault Cannon: using the SM version at the points cost listed in our codex.
Anyways, there's my 2¢
