If you take the drop troops doctrine, can you drop a special weapons squad and not the command platoon? And if so, how do you do deployment? Because If I am correct, the command platoon and any support squads that are part of it must be deployed together. Correct?
But what if you dont want to drop the command squad. I want to deploy the command squad normally and drop the spec. weapon. squad.
The drop troops doctrine allows any squad you want to deep strike that count as "Guard infantry" this means that as long as the squad is made up of normal guardsmen they can deep strike.
The command squad does not need to deep strike in order for the spec. weapon squad to do so aslo you can chose which squads in a platoon to drop in and which to deploy at the start of battle.
absolutely right. these squads (together with the heavy weapon squads of the HQ) act individually on the board, same goes for deepstriking.

Yeah the key word is squad... not platoon
so does this mean you roll for the squad or the platoon for reserves roll?

You roll for each squad that you chose to deep strike so you could drop the command squad and a troops squad and leave 1 or more of the remaining squads on the table.
Thanks for clearing that up! I thought that since they were rolled collectively that they were deployed together even if deployed "individually".
