Recent advice (and i appreciate it) has decided to make me change up my army list a bit. Please respond with your ideas and i hope this list is at least better then the last one. Thnx for your time.
HQ-Command Tank- Leman Russ Conqueror
Elites: 2 Tank Aces- Leman Russ Vanquishers
Troops: - 4 Leman Russ Battle Tanks
- 2 Leman Russ Exterminators
I decided i would need some more AT weapons in this army. But i like the conqueror because it can lay down alot of fire and take out infantry and light armor pretty easily. I thought about Making the canquisher troops choices but, i figured a tank with that armanat deserves a high rank. Let me know what you think. TY for your time.
One Problem i found with my early AC army was find oppents to play against, for some reason they were to scared to take on a Leman russes, So i added some storm troopers in chimeras a hellhound, 3 sentinels with las's, and an armoured fist squad. This does double duty, it takes away some of the "Cheese" factor and actually makes the army more powerful, people get so scared of the heavy tanks, that your squads and sentinels are able to do thier missions more effectivly. my infantray has never let me down, and my sentinels, (if used right), are like gods, no one wants to target them while the russes are still on the table. So i would suggest switching out some of the heavy tanks to make a more balanced AC list with some mechanized infantry. etc.
Mine runs pretty good
Ive got russes and excutioners fillin up all hq and troop spots
2 destroyers though for heavy stuff
In the night,
armed with lasguns,
and the light of the emporer,
they stood tall,
in the twilight,
the galaxy burns,
a cunning tribute,
to the god of man,
all hail the Emperer!
I don't want to be too much of a downer on your HQ but..
The conqueror is a waste of points.
It is more costly point wise for a conqueror (even before you pay for the compulsory hull weapon) than it is for an exterminator with 3 heavy bolters!!
The exterminator is actually better at taking out vehicle armour than the conqueror. The exterminators twin linked autocannon makes it better and doesn't confine the shots to an area of a small blast template. when engaging infantry models they are all to oftne spread to far to hit more than one and a partial, whereas the autocannon get's a re-roll and two shots to go anywhere in the target unit!
taking vanquishers as troops is probably a bad idea. You should have vanquishers as Elites or HQ since they will have boosted ballistic skill. Are you using white dwarf armoured company rules or imperial armour big book?? I was able to make a 2nd place in a 1250 point tournament (which allowed white dwarf rules) with armoured company so I have a decent idea of solid choices. I say that because Armoured Company suffers a lot at under 1500points. Not to mention how some armies can chew up any vehicle the imperium has to offer pretty easily with the way things are these days.
My advice on foundation of a good armoured company lislemat:
-Exterminator Tank Ace
-Hull and Sponson Heavy Bolters
-Pintle Heavy Stubber
TROOPS 2 and on
-Good ol' Dependable Leman Russ Tanks with hull and sponson heavy bolters
after the first four tanks it's time to go with what you want.. are you going leman russ variants only? light armour support? sentinels? infantry mounted in chimeras? ...
Destroyer tank hunter.. hmm I've only used mine once. and it saved the day... something to look into but certainly have to be taken as hq or tank ace. downside of the destroyer is high cost for one gun. It can only take a pintle weapon and hunter killer if you want extra guns on it.
Please rethink the conqueror. It's fluff is cool but game wise the exterminator beats it.
If I ever get back into armoured company I'll likely use two leman russ demolishers with hull and sponson heavy bolters. Mind you that'd be at 1500points or higher for sure.
