I already have a post going but what is better to start with cadians or catachans
and which do you think are better over all
And can you post some pictures of some models that you have converted
It mainly depends on what you want to do with them. I prefer Cadians, because they look better, and they have more conversion abilities.
And I think that Catachans suck if you aren't fighting in a jungle. I might be mistaken, but I think that they don't have certain abilities if they don't have jungle around them, therefore giving them penalties. So unless you know your gonna do a lot of jungle fighting, stick to Cadians.
I play my 40k with friendly fire.
Finally fixed the link!
Catachans and Cadians are both standard Imperial Guard, they just have different doctrines so they play a bit differently. Deathworld Veterans are the ones with the special units and major jungle advantages. I think some of the best "How to start 40k" advice came out of one of the rulebooks or codecies. Pick what you think looks cool. Unless you're extremely concerned with fluff, you can use either model range to represent any doctrines you pick.
While the Jungle Fighters Doctrine is certainly only useful for jungles (if at all), you can use Catachans in whatever fashion you wish. In retrospect I should have used Cadians, because they look nicer, but they weren't out yet in plastic when I started. I'd use Cadians. But mix in some other bitz to make it look cool!
I agree with Imperialis_Dominatus. Catachans and Cadians are both just standard Imperial Guard troops (although you can customize them with doctrines if you want). Cadians just look better in my opinion and far closer to how I imagine a trooper of the 41st Millenium to look.
So my humble Guardsman's fist is as strong as a blast from his laser rifle?
And whatever you do, don't buy the Catachan codex! It isn't legal anymore because it was replaced by the Doctrines system. I suppose you could use it in a friendly game, but because of how different the equipment options are, you couldn't use the same army with the current rules.
Why buy it anyway you can download off games workshop site in Australia:shifty:
And its mainly because they look cool
can you also answer my other post its here
How bout neither? Forgeworlds models trump both I think. The Tallarn models are absolutely beautiful. ( its a shame they don't have more models made, I'd be all over them in a heart beat) Then there is always the Death Korps, which are just amazing looking, if your willing to put a little more money into it forge world models will give you an army you will always be rpoud of.
Rheagar fought nobly
Rheagar fought valiantly
Rheagar fought honorably
And Rheagar died.
But they don't sell basic Tallarn infantry, and besides, everything's waaaaay too expensive for a whole army. Plus the resin dust will shave a couple years off your life. But I do like that they made Grenadier models for Death Corps- they're not Storm Troopers, but they don't look like the normal troops.
