Hi, in a Mega-Battle my store does, people don't need to follow the force organisation chart, or when we do, the teams can split it up amongst them (i.e., player one can have 3 Heavy Support only, as long as at least somebody takes Troops and HQ), so I was wondering: As support for my allies, what if I spent all my points on Flyers? I have no idea how many points they are, but I think a Marauder and a pair of Thunderbolts could do a lot of damage with relatively little risk of getting shot down. Any thoughts?
About the thunderbolts....maybe not such a good idea, i mean of course their good, their bombing runs make sure no enemies of the emperor live to fight once more upon the tainted soil. But they are godamn expensive, you could go for the cheaper option which would be to use valkyries and marauder destroyers...use the valkyries to pepper down the lines of infantry then use the destroyers to cover the advance and take down any pestilent armoured if possible. They are cheaper too. I hope my services here did u some good, merry x'mas and For the Emperor!
Thanks, I really like the look of the two gunships, but I guess the main problem is that I have no idea how they cost
Maybe I'll break out the old VDR rules and find a guestimate, before I go out buying volumes of IA.
Hey dude, dont get dissapointed even if you cant buy any thunderbolts, see thats the thing. The Imperium has the widest variety and bastion of armoured columns, and men and women. BUT OUR MORALE SUCKS....cheer up cant be that bad, anyways whats ur budget?
Thunderbolts are pretty solid for their points, probably more so than any other flyers and you can add some bombs making them pretty decent all-rounders.
The Marauder Bomber is a great flyer. Bear in mind, the Marauder can carry up to 24 bombs with a full payload (or 6 heavy bombs and 12 regular) and all of them can attack different targets because it's a super heavy. You basically carpet bomb your opponents into oblivion and use the twin las turret to snipe any pesky tanks. The best feature is the range of the bombs and lascannon are pretty good so you can avoid all but the longest range return fire. IMHO, it's a much better choice than the destoyer who can pack a reasonable punch, but can't decimate an entire army nearly as effectively.
The thunderbolt is around 200 depending on what you put on it and the marauder can be anywhere from 400-600 depending on what you throw on it (see no specifics, just a vague description)
Blais's Paint Studio-Getting broken armies good soft scores since 2009
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
Well, they're a lot cheaper points-wise than I thought. Perhaps I'll take a kitted-out Marauder and a pair of T-bolts, around 1000pts...
Well, that's if I can stop playing System Shock (the original! woot!), get off my butt, and go get something done... I'm typing this in a window.
And I just got killed by an invisible mutant. Of course.
