Is it legal to attach a Chaplain (With TA of course) to a squad of Assault Termies and deep strike them together? I just have this idea of Litanies of Hate allowing them to reroll hits when the lightning claws already let them reroll wounds. Amazing. Thing is, I don't think characters can have Assault Termy retinues, however, maybe they could attach themselves to the squad? I don't know, I'm new to 'Umies. Please, someone with an encyclopedic knowledge of this stuff HELP ME! Cheers.
you cannot deepstrike IC's and a squad together. you must deepstrike them seperately. you can attach them before the beginning of the game if they start on the field. make sure you have thunder hammers incase you run into vehicles.
If you want a squad with a charachter then you will have to go for a command squad. Specialists and sergeants are allowed to take items from the armoury so you will be able to take lightning claws and thunder hammers that way, and you can still take those brill assault cannons!
My fave would be ;
This squad would then be able to DS together.

You may start both the Chaplain and the Assault Termies in Reserves, but must dice for them seperately. If they both arrive on the same turn, you may then attach the Chaplain to the Termies and Deep Strike them as a single unit.
If one unit becomes avaliable before the other, then they must arrive and the other stays in Reserves until it is ready.
Command squads get around this by always being attached to their character, no matter what.
