    Hey Mate,

If i was one of your regular opponents, i wouldnt worry about it, if it was a "every now and then" thing. But if terminator armour is going to be your standard load out, i'd strongly suggest investing in a termi model, eventually.

Also, if you're planning on entering into tournaments, you'd definately need it.

They are a must at tournaments, other than that its just fair towards your opponent if he did the same. If you play against friends who change there list every game and proxy there models, you should be fine.

Um… yeah, get Terminators for your Terminator armor equipped Marines. Case in point. We were playing a friendly game at a friend's house. One of the players was playing Chaos Space Marines, the other, Necrons.

During one of the assaults, the Chaos Space Marine player conducted a sweeping advance, wiping out the Necron player's squad. Everything seemed fine, until two turns later when the Necron player said, "Hey, didn't you say that your champion had Terminator Armor?"
    "Um… yeah. He did."
"Did you realize that you can't make a sweeping advance when there's a guy with Terminator armor in your squad?"
    "Um… no."

This guy doesn't read the rules too well, and relies on his opponents and the other players in the room to point out rules stuff to him. Needless to say, since it wasn't WYSIWYG, no one caught it until two turns later. The Necron player could've been running around with a Warrior squad that was above 50% for the remainder of the game, blowing things to pieces.

Not very fair, would you say? Do what's right, and make your models so that they represent what they're supposed to.

No, you do not need to actually wear the armour to benefit from it. In fact, don't make a Terminator squad in Terminator armour, as that will confuse the enemy too much.

    lol

If you are asking to do with the codex entry, then duh. Take a guess.
If you're asking about prokying? Go ahead, w all do it occasionally, to get a feel for the unit.

People will pull the WYSIWYG,make sure you tell them before the game and you yourself remember the model in question has it.Go ahead about proxying it as well,in tournements though you must have it on.

It's not expensive to bits order a termie body, legs and arms. The rest you could probably use some of your own leftover bits to make. Get creative -- you might surprise yourself and produce a much more butt-kicking model than you thought you could.

And if you do, please be sure to give it a spiffy paint job, and post pics

The Doctor: "Yuuuup. But I do it brilliantly!"

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet but you could probably make a good Terminator conversion by applying layers of green stuff in order to add bulk to the Marine's armour until it matches that of a Terminator. It wouldn't be very heavily ornamented but with a bit of patience and practice, you could get it to look similar.
