i REALLY hate to bring up old topics. but i am just curious to know if anyone has figured this out yet? or if any of the ideas have changed since 2005.... seeing as it is about to be 2007.... thanks for the advice and sorry for bringing up such an old thread.
in my searches, the most recent updates where of may 28th 2005. and it was established that as it stands then, kroot CAN be used. this was established by mEGALOMANIAC. seeing as how so much time has passed, i am very curious to see if any other FAQs have been updated or any new information released? i have found nothing else in my searches that are relevant to this issue.
rules-wise, if its a DH base army, i dont see why not (excluding fluff). but i cant back it up....
then again, im sorta relaxed on this sorta stuff

Yeah, I've considered using Kroot as well, mainly because I love their personality. There is nothing to prohibit you from using Kroot Mercs, since DH are not listed in the prohibited armies in the Kroot 'dex.
From a fluff perspective, I do have a hard time seeing Grey Knights fighting alongside Kroot. Something about feral carnivore tribes fighting alongside the gleaming paladins of mankind... it doesn't really mesh well, does it? On the other hand, I think Kroot would be a great option for a more radical force, or at least one without Grey Knights. I can definitely see an Inquisitor enlisting cheap, expendable bodies to combat some imminent threat, and I'm sure a Kroot force would ask less questions than any Imperial allies. It also makes for another variation on the typical radical force, and can fill in the close-combat unit holes that such forces often have.
So, as long as Kroot can be used in whatever setting you're playing in, there should be no problem using them with DH's.
Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.
If you're intruiged by doctors who are also ninjas, then this is the webcomic for you!
From the FAQs that I've seen, you can only not use them when the DH are also allies. So if your playing a IG army with dh, you couldn't use kroot but I don't see why you couldn't for a pure DH army. They have reposted the kroot list on various GW websites in the past year, and they have had plenty of opportunities to change it, but it hasn't changed.
I like the idea of using the kroot for the radical armies. It opens up a lot of new choices that aren't there if your using something such as a daemonhost so that you lose all greyknights. I mean, you get an extra troop option, the elites are bad, but you also get some good HQ options, good FA options and access to the best sniper squad that I've ever seen.

anyways, i dont have a radical list. i have a weird list that has a lot of grey knights.
i know fluff wise to just have grey knights and kroot it does not make sense.
i also have one inquisitor. so that is how i can balance this fluff wise. the inquisitor convinced the greyknights to use the kroot.
but this is still an idea i am toying with.
does it say you can ally/induct them any were in Tau Empire / DH codex anywere? i cant see it in eitheir but that may just me being dumb
You cannot take allies from the Tau Empire codex for really anything, other wise we would be looking at taking things much better than kroot. However, kroot have a separate codex that is located here: Link
