I've recently dumped my ideas of an ultramarines army, as it turns out at least one other player in my area are playing the ultras. then i read the Warrior Brood novel, and really liked the Mantis Warriors in it, and since it's not an overdone chapter, the chance of anybody else making them is quite small.
But this gives me another problem, as i haven't been able to find any pictures of how their shoulder pads should look like, and i'd really like to try out minus t's interesting guide to making such badges.
does anybody know how the Mantis Warriors shoulder badge looks like, or even has pictures?
I expect it to look like a Preying Mantis, or some other reasonably fearsome looking bug...
Look at "How to Paint Space Marines" book, that should have an example of their badge.
The badge is a stylized head/face of a praying mantis. Their colors where green, if I remember correctly.
You can try to search for the Badab war, as they rebelled then.
You can also try to search for Mantis Legion, as that is an alternative name.
Here is what I found
EDIT: note to mods - If you don't like the link to the pic, let me know
Shut up and play.
I know the colourscheme and some of the fluff about them and such, i've just never found pictures in which i could see the badge, so that picture surely helped out, thanks, Lamenter!
Adrian: Of course, it never occured to me, that i could look in that book!
