Well I am currently thinking of converting a new commander for my dark angels army. I am trying to decide between using a Grand Master, Chaplain, or Libraian.
I personally at this moment use a Grand Master, Sword of Secrets, Jump Packs, Bionics, Plasma Pistol. He does very well in the games that I have played. He almost never gets killed, in close combat he holds his own against just about anyone. I just need some imput from anyone that has actual game experience with Chaplains and Libraians.
Just let me know what your experiences with them were. Did they hold their own? Did they get their points back? Did they compliment the the unit they were attached to (if attached)? Anything you can think of!
I would appreciate it, thanks a lot everyone!
One of the Signature HQ's for DA is the FotD Libby
Epistolary (or Codicier, whichever
Fear of the Darkness.
That's what you're most likely to see in a DA list.
You're less likely to see a Chaplain, due to the shooty tendencies of the Dark Angels.
To expand a bit.
Given the same equipment as the Master setup you have, he should be just as survivable, but, much more expensive.
The FotD libby works best when drop Podded with a Command Squad. What you do is pod him, and two other pods that are within 6" of the enemy you're trying to make run.
If successful, it is possible to make half of your opponents army run off the board with no chance of recovery by turn 2 or 3.
Very effective against Imperial Guard.
In all CC cases, I prefer the Chaplain. But if you want something to fill more roles, then take the Librarian.

4000+ Of Marines and Daemonhunters
2000+ Of Tyranids
My suggestion would be to wait for the new codex and then decide
After all the DA libbys are supposed to get some tasty extra powers. And maybe you want to go for Ravenwing or Deathwing then anyway.
Shut up and play.
Well Grand Master is the only one in the army that can have the Sword of Secrets. The bonus to str has really made him formitable. I do like the Force weapon though, and even with base str of the libraian he is not going to be attacking Wraithlords anyway. So I guess my choice would be:Given the same equipment as the Master setup you have, he should be just as survivable, but, much more expensive.
Epistolary - 171
Bolt Pistol, Bionics, Jump Pack, FoTD
(this comes from the space marine codex)
Now how does it work If I use the libraian from the Dark Angels codex.......he does not have the same options as the ones in the space marine codex and I do not know how that works!!!!
Interogator Chaplain - 116
Bolt Pistol, Bionics, Jump Pack
I have heard that they are rewriting the Dark Angels so i dont know what will come of that as far as libraians and chaplains go, or how long it will be till it comes out. If anyone knows about that I would like to know. But I think that the Libraian does pack more of punch for the points spent on him
