Quick question about heavy weapon teams. Is it allowed to use the Missile Launcher teams on the small bases that regular troops use, or do they have to use the big ones? I ask this because I see them all the time, as just a small base, rather then the big ones. An example of this is the Forgeworld Elysian Drop Troops: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/edtmissile.htm
As said, this is perfectly suitable. Only one Guardsman is actually required to wield the weapon - the other is just in the "team," which really doesn't do much. For all intents and purposes, the two are completely separate models - i.e., they are not a 2-wound model, but two 1-wound models. If you model them on the bigger base (which GW, I suppose, figured would be more convenient to do) then they are still separate models.
Another example of small bases would be the Steel Legion miniatures, etc. etc.
Wow, the whole time i was thinking you HAD to use those big bases for everything, mainly because the instructions for assembling them, shows them on the big base, and I figured that since they show the team being assembled on the large base, you had to use it.
This will make them much more useful, since I will be able to have more then one missile launcher on an entire floor of a Cities of Death building (they usually stick over the edges of the floor)
Yeah I run Steel Legion the Missile Launcher heavy weapon is given to you on two bases.
If you do things right people wont be sure if you have done anything at all.
This means that one box of Heavy Weapon teams will make you more teams than you thought, if you have some spare Guardsmen lying about.
I much prefer it when people put their IG heavy weapons on small bases, it makes blasts and template weapons much easier to sort out =)
