I was wondering if this was a good idea...
this in a 1000 pt list btw. 2 full squads of pagk, mini purger and tllc ml dread (THIS IS NOT A PROPER LIST, DO NOT MOVE TO THE ARMY LIST SECTION).
Before i just had a BC HQ with psycannon. however i'm increasinly noticing how lacking my anti-armour is. If the opponend happens to include something like a LR(C), i can be seriously boned. There's just little i can do besides pray my dread kills it before it gets killed. unlikely, and leaves me in an even worse position if they have additional armor (and often they do).
i have 105 points, and more if i shave points from the pagk squads (or mini purgers).
a couple of ideas would be...
- 4x vet guards with melta guns, 2x acolytes with carapace and melta bombs, and bolter flamer combi and melta bomb for the =][=. drop a pagk from each.
- drop mini purge squad, turn HQ ret into something shooty and make an elite =][= with anti-tank ret or another tllc ml dread. 3x HB gun servitors + 2x sages + psycannon for I. of course, dropping mini purgers means i also have to lose FA tele squads and turn them into regular troops...
- seraphims. i'd prefer to keep the army pure DH (friend plays witch hunters and it's kinda of a thing), but i'm open to ideas and suggestions.
also im a nub so go easy on my bad ideas...

Well, my most effective tank busters have been, and continue to be, inferno pistol-toting Seraphim (and a VSS with an eviscerator). When I face heavily armoured opponents, this is a unit I can depend on. Second most reliable unit for me are dreads. Because I've almost always used seraphim with my force, and don't enjoy ISTs all that much, I have very little practical experience with mounted melta-toting ISTs. However, with similar speed and armour-punching capability, I would hazard that such a squad would prove highly effective.
Tooling up an inquisitor for armour-hunting doesn't strike me as an efficient use of points. As elites, a naked inquisitor and 3 vet sgts with melta guns (you can only take a max of 3 of any one type of inquisitorial henchman) runs you 80 pts, the same cost as 6 ISTs with 2 melta guns. (Of course you'll buy either squad the same transport.) And I'd prefer the latter solution: more wounds protecting your special weapons, and still heavy odds on scoring some damage. Further points spent on an armour-hunting inquisitor squad (e.g., sages, weaponry/wargear on the inquisitor, like melta bombs, eviscerator, combi-melta) would add to the capability. But such capability would come at a prohibitive cost. So much more so, that it would probably be better to just buy a 2nd IST squad instead.
Anyway, if you're looking for more anti-armour, and don't want seraphim, I'd find points for either a 2nd dread or a melta IST squad. Those should work well for you. Shooty inquisitors are great, but they're primarily infantry suppression, not anti-armour.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

ah, i was under the impressiont he limit was 4...
the infantry supression I retinue is what i think im gonna go, with another TLLC ML dread.
15 points left over... what to do?
