My son wants create a Death Company army.
What do you need,
Can you have a dreadnought ?
We have a large BA army, but havent played much.
Can anyone help ?
The only way to have Death Company in your army, as far as I know, would be to have a Blood Angels army centered around.. well, Death Company.
Would be better to get some info in the Space Marines forum, as Blood Angels/Death Company are Space Marines. You'll get more help there, I'm sure.
I'll go ahead and move this thread for you.
Basically, it all involves a chaplain and his hoarde of angry marines.
You can't really decide how many death company marines to get.
As far as I'm aware it's chosen randomely with a dice roll for each squad to determine how many models become angry enough to paint their armour black.
It's a little bit more sophisticated than that though. Apart from the getting angry bit. Oh boy, they're angry alright.
Dreadnoughts may also get angry too. It's makes good use of the dreadnought's terrifying abilities in CC too.
You're best of getting the codex, you should be able to get it fairly cheap me thinks.

EDIT: By the way, I'm not totally sure of your son's reasons for wanting to collect a Death Company army, but if it's to play games with, he should know that the list is totally overbalanced, and in no way official.

Death company was in an older issue chapter approved and is no way a 'legal' army choice. However if playing a friendly match and your opponent has a thought up a REALLY good method of killing them (think armoured company), then it pays with untold fun!
I used to play death company and lost only one in a dozen battles. However they do lack heavy support due to special rules.
But priceless to watch opponents face when a 6 man tactical squad storm up the battle field, bolter rounds being shrugged off, then ripping through squad upon squad of Marine equivalents.
Your best bet is to get a Blood Angels army and load up on infantry and chaplains, that will get a large number of death company and allow tactical flexibility (death company armies tends to run straight at the enemy without firing much).
Cheese… milk's leap toward immortality
Youll have to take a Chaplain, and then take as many Blood Angel Scout Squads as possible, and hope that the dice are on your side and that you manage to get a high number of Death Company.
Lol, a pretty silly army though.
Of course the legality of this army is already so questionable that if your intentions are to only play it unofficially I don't think it will matter much what you do as long as your opponent approves.
I think you would need at least 2000 pionts of BA to normally field Moriar.
Someone please correct me if I have just completely blown smoke!
Okay, I just played using the Death Company army rules, and I must say, that was one of the more boring games that I've played. Even Scouts are nearly unstoppable when they have Feel No Pain, Black Rage automatically, and get another Attack and point of Leadership (did I mention that they automatically pass any Morale tests that they need to make?)!
Ask Adrian MalSeraph... the Death Company army is totally off its rocker, and shouldn't be used without your opponent's consent.
I just battled Firedrake, and there is little that can be done once they bear down on you. My units fell very quickly, and I couldn't do much.
You MUST (and I stress that alot), tailor your army to beat them in order to win. Any run of the mill army will have a tough time. My predator destructor did the most damage against the few scouts she had.
With so many Feel no Pain rolls, you need to get past the armour to have a glimmer of hope to kill the marine.
This is the power gamers army, and no one likes a power gamer.
