The Light Infantry doctrine says, and I'm going from memory, that any Guard Infantry unit can purchase the Light Infantry ability for X points. The Doctrines pages says, again from memory, that a Guard Infantry unit can be a Command Squad and any attached advisors and support squads.
Does this mean that for a Command Platoon of 1 Command Squad and 5 support squads, I pay the X points once? Or do I still need to pay for the ability for each support squad? Along the same lines, does an attached Commissar receive the Light Infantry ability for free if the Command Squad paid the X points for itself?
I know that I'm only going from memory, so if a Guard Infantry unit does not include the attached support squads, please let me know. I am currently unable to get to my Guard codex.
That's what I had figured. So what happens if I pay the X points to give the Command Squad Light Infantry, but don't do so for the attached Commissar? Does he prevent the entire Command Squad from infilitrating or is he left behind to deploy alone? I'm banking on the former, but it's always better to get another opinion.
Like Prittshift said, it must me per unit and you don't need to spend any "extra" for the Commissar.
Light Infintry is not a great Doctrine IMO. In most games you don't get many good Infiltrating spots, so a unit or two of Vets is the way to go if you want to get a couple of squads "out and about".
