In reality, what is a more effective tank killer, an assault or or TLLC?
And secondly, Giving a dread (or any other vehicle for that matter) the blessed upgrade, will work in stopping a tyranid zonathrope's focused blast right?

Assault Cannons can be handy, but they rely too much on that elusive six to be handy.
Personally, I'd stick with the Twin Linked Lascannon.
Not sure about the blessed hull thing, let me get back to you.
It will force the zoan to roll against you for the ability to use the power. both are going to count as the same leadership, so he has to roll equal to you or higher for the power to work, so it will stop just under half of the shots that the zoan fires at you. I don't think it is worth the points, and would rather have the ability to take tank hunters which costs the same but is much better, especially when its only real role is to take out tanks.
assault is only better statistically than the TLLC if it's also twin linked. a fun fact i stole from someone.
I believe that the AC is better against armourwith AV 11-13 and the TLLC is better against AV 10 or 14.
I will try to find a link with the math... or I will crunch the numbers myself.
Either way, I will need some time.
It's worth a krak!
Having twice the range is nothing to scoff at, however. I'm personally a big fan of the ol' TLLC, especially considering how many vehicles fall into the AV 11-13 range. You've got the Russ's front armour, LR's, and the dreaded Monolith... and I think that's everything with AV 14. As for AV 10... well, you're darn likely to pop that with whatever you use, bolters included =P.
Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.
If you're intruiged by doctors who are also ninjas, then this is the webcomic for you!
i agree that the range bonus is nothing to just dismiss. let's also not forget that the TLLC is twin linked.
TLLC + ML = job done.
Yes the TLLC is more effective all AV values except 10 and 14, and then is just slight. It is quite a bit more effective at AV11-13, and throw in the range factor a ML; 'Nuff said.

I play with two Lascannon helfire dreads, but I am still going to take up the side of the Assault Cannon variant. I infact often think about taking AC/ML dreads because they have more potential.
The problem with the TLLC is that it is much more expensive, and much less versitile. I feel like you can put their destructive powers on about an even plain for tough vehicles, but when you are shooting skimmer squadrons, the lascannon can only kill one of them--The assault cannon can eliminate a whole squadron, and it isn't terribly unlikely. Then compare it to how it does against genestealers...no comparison here, lascannon 1, AC 3...and it costs less. The only probelm is that it is tough to get enough ranged anti tank in a DH army, if that need were met elsewhere you would see as many DH hellfires as you do loyalist ones (which is pretty close to zero).
In summation if you are bringing in Guardsmen for lascannons don't take TLLC dreads, If you are not taking guardsmen you don't have a lot of other options and are probably going to need to take two.
