Hye, Iíve just started collecting my first 40k army (space wolves) and wanted some advice in modeling mine venerable dreadnought. It has a plasma cannon and a heavy flamer, but Iím not sure if the box contains these weapons for the model or if I have to adapt it. If thatís the case, could you give some advice on how to do it?
Well, I took a look in the SM collector's catalogue.
I'm guessing the model you're picking up is the SW ven. dread, which is made of metal. It makes conversion a bit harder. As you probably know, metal is a ***** to convert.
Anyway, as far as I can see the has a metal arm with a PF and a flamer on it. The Plasma cannon is the tricky part. It's not in the box I think. There is an assaultcannon in it.
As for conversions. Perhaps BW bits can supply you with a Lascannon arm for a plastic dread. Then I'd wait for about a month or so, till they have plastic devastator and order a plastic plasmacannon. I need a plasmacannon for my Chaos dread, so that's what I'm gonna do. Except I do have a spare Lascannon.
Depending on conversion skills you might want to add the odd Wolf head from the WHFB plastic wolves. with a bit of Greenstuff you can make some nice pelts.
The Plasma Cannon is the tricky bit. You can use a SM devastator one and cut it (if you have the Dremel and the GS skills ). And there is of course the Forgeworld option: Forge World SPACE MARINE DREADNOUGHTS
Shut up and play.
