Hello, well Iím planning to start up a Space Marine army (currently Dark Eldar) and the reason why Iím stopping the build on the Dark Eldar army is because I donít fell that ďepicĒ feel, and that brings me to Space Marines they truly have an ďepicĒ feel to me because every fight a mission by the emperor, where as you get in Dark Eldar its just a mindless raid, that why I think they havenít made a codex for them in a while. That another story off to my point
Iím open to any possibilities or even another army, but so far I had a look at the Black Templarís codex I like the close combat capabilities of this army but Iím not sure to how make one instantaneous assault or does that not work with black Templars. I do truly love the back story of the Templars I just need help on the tactica.
Then again I want an army that is good at assaulting, my friend recommended Blood Angels something about getting free units with scouts or something which I would love but Iím not sure if that army beholds an ďepicĒ feel to me when I speak of epic I mean something that would have a titan in its armory or something. But Iím unclear on their history.
If thereís any chapter I over looked please announce them to me (that are good at assaulting as well would have a purpose for a titan, or tell me a good way to make assaulting troops within the Space Marines codex)
Thank you for your time!
No marines have a Titan. None, the titans are packed into their own, "Titan legions", neither marines nor any other imperial army has one in their armoury. But they fight alongside any imperial arm.
If you want assault you are overlooking Space Wolves who are very Norse and are into epic battles, they keep them as stories afterall. They even call their companies "Great Companies"
Blood Angels don't get free units, but you check for a special force called Death Company, and you would lose a model for every Death Company model you rolled for. It is random.
Hope that helps.
"Thousand Sons! Fight in the Emperor's name!"

Blood Angels get awesome bonuses when they charge, and the Death Company is insane in CC. Furioso Dreads are another great melee unit.
If you want a titan go chaos.
But if you want an assaulty chapter I would go with Blood angels or Raven guard. Both really good at close combat. Or if you want something big persay tanks and stuff definatly imperial guard. Basilisk, leman russ, Bane blade...exc.
Blood Agels all the way:yes: The Death Company which is the unit that marines go to when they get too battle frenzied are totally insane (feel no pain, free jump packs, free terminator honors, etc.) In addition, all of the regular Blood Angels troops get an extra movement on a roll of a 1 and they get furious charge for free.
Most people use scouts so that you dont loose as many points when they go to the Death Company but you can use a bunch of tactical and assault marines in addition to/instead of which is what I do most of the time.
BLOOD ANGELS RULE!!!:w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

I have seen the Death Company: wild-eyed berserkers, who tear their enemys limb from limb, crush skulls with a single blow, snap spines and rip out organs. The Blood Angels are indeed ancient and terrible and only the foolish do not fear them.
As the first responder said, the Titans are controlled by the Titan Liegons, not space marines, the same is true of Chaos
Black templars: the ability to take large squads and injet scouts in to them and gove marines BP and CCW and take vows can make them very nasty
Space wolves: think Vickings, complete with beserks, and axes and wolf skins - dont take jump pack troops so not particulraly fast
Blood angels: originally touted as vampyres, death company is a little nasty but i wouldnt decribe them as "insane", the army took a bit of a knock with 4th ed transporet rules, until that point they calssicaly had a couple of nasty jump pack units supported by a rhino rush, however the rules change kind of hurt them as rhino rushes no longer cut the mustard for assault troops, howecver that just measn they need a little more skill to play
Raven Guard- jump pack assault troops, you can get 7 squads of them in there!
White scars: bike based army can be turned into a very nasty assaulting force
The latter 2 are done with standard traits so can clearly be applied to invented chapters
Everything you have been told is a lie!
They are however the ultimate drop pod and plasma rush army.Space wolves: think Vickings, complete with beserks, and axes and wolf skins - dont take jump pack troops so not particulraly fast
They also are better than Blood Angels the longer combat goes on (many more attacks).
Out of those listed I personally think space wolves or black templars would be best.
Templars because they have just had their codex not too long ago and SW because they probably won't get hit with the nerfing bat as much as blood angels will.
i agree w/ Cheredanine. raven guard are probably the best assault chapter because they have shrike, and can take a lot of assault squads, making it close combat goodness for you. shrike probably is the best of the SM special characters because of infiltrate, scout, his jump pack, and the MC lightning claws w/ rending. with all those, he is in close combat turn one. not to mention his raven wing is pretty pwnage too.
I'll have a look at the space wolves I'm probaly going to run them drop pod assult sounds fun too thank you a lot!
I'd take a serious look at raven guard if i were you. They are all black ands red and awesomeness. Plus, shrike is all infantry shredding and stuff. I really like the picture in the marine codex where he's leading a squad of assault marines and hes about to pwn a tau ethereal.
