I think that the autocannon should get AP3 because it would make it allot more usefull than what it is now. I think its now a heavy bolter whit a S higher but also a shot less, so not really usefull and its even cost 5p more than the HB

The points cost for the autocannon reflect the fact that it bounces off power armour. If it was AP3 it would cost more points (maybe 10 points extra and TL Autocannon would be an extra 20).
Generally Imperial weapons aren't that great at mowing down marines in large numbers. This is game ballanced by the fact that spacemarines get good armour and toughness. Eldar for example get great weapons but are easy to kill.
This leaves the poor imperial guard at a disadvantage because they use the same weapons as space marines but use cardboard for armour. Their cheap points cost makes up for this. If you need to mow down MEQs then use battle cannon, plasma guns and missile launchers. There may be a case for allowing guard armies an AP3 multishot high strength weapon but it would throw the balance of many armies. Heavy bolters and multi lasers would be redundant as would missile launchers to some extent. how would you justify not giving this weapon to the space marines? Or the Chaos smace marines? This would seriously unballance the game. The last thing I want to do is to face Iron warriors with 9 oblits and 6 starcannon!
Yeah. That would be a distaster. The all the SM players would be crying about how the Assault Cannon needs to be AP3... and then the 40k universe would rip apart in an enormous Warp Rift, everyone would get sucked in and we would all be devoured by inter-dimensional beasts...
If it was AP3, then who the hell would ever take missile launchers?
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
The Autocannon is great how it is, it needs no upgrade in anything, and thats coming from a guard player, if you want AP3 take Missile launchers
Enjoy paying 60 points for an autocannon.

Just cause your having trouble with some bully Marines? Well, tough it out. That's what plasma and melta guns are for.
Making Autocannons AP 3 will only cause pandemonium. Like Abraham Lincoln said, the ensuing chaos would destroy us all. Let's just not go there.
Actually, an AP 3 autocannon would only cause pandemonium for everyone else out there.
Guard players would still not get a save regardless!!! :cry:
It would however make the missile launcher useless as someone has already pointed out, so I vote no. I think the person who created this poll did so as they are only just realising how mediocre the autocannon actually is.

The Autocannon is far from mediocre. While not a wonder weapon, its not that bad, its the best skimmer killer in the game (I play alot of LandSpeeders :x). Most Chaos players use them as standard.
If it were such a mediocre weapon, then it wouldn't be such a popular choice.
