Now that IG has the new and improved Armored Company, why can't SMs have their own? Predators, Land Raiders, Crusaders and Razorbacks. Maybe introduced with a new SM tank. Cool. Just an idea worth thinking over.
Henceforth no man shall set foot upon the world, and all around shall be set sentinals to ward away unwary spacecraft. We must accept that this place is lost to us forever, and is now the eternal habitation of abomination.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>another annoying thing i hate: 47,000 similies in one post. just thoght id throw that in there and see if anybody else hates it as much as i do.</div>
But wouldn' tha' defeat the whole purpose of having Space Marines..if all they do is stand there with thier shiney tanks and employ the IG "Aim,Fire,Repeat" tactic..I mean what's the purpose of having 7 ft tall geneticly engineered super soldiers capable of ripping people apart with thier bare hands if all they're gonna do is stand there an' fire a big gun? I dunno I guess it's just a hard concept for me to understand 'cause i play BA..i live on cc 8|
Normally, Marines don't need an Armored Company, for reasons Edicius pointed out.
But, the Dark Angels had a company called the Ironwing, which, like the Deathwing and Ravenwing, was a specialist company, made up of tanks.
Currently, the Ironwing is no longer supported by GW, but at the Bolter and Chainsword, we, the dedicated Sons of the Lion work, tirelessly to revamp and reintroduce the Ironwing

lol yea that would ruin it for us ba players i mean then how would you get death company still it would be cool
You could have Death Company bikes...
White Scars anyone?
I just searched for and stumbled upon your thread here as I was considering the same possiblity: An Armored Company-like force for the Space Marines.
Here is what I came up with:
HQ1 - Commander w/Bolt Pistol & CCW, Veteran Sgt + 4 Marines, Flamer, Meltagun
Razorback Transport w/Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers and TL Lascannon turret
Elite1 - Dreadnought w/Extra Armor and TL Lascannon
Elite2 - Veteran Sgt + 5 Marines w/Razorback Transport w/Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers and TL Lascannon turret
Heavy1 - Whirlwind w/Extra Armor and Smoke Launchers
Heavy2 - Whirlwind w/Extra Armor and Smoke Launchers
Troop1 - Veteran Sgt + 5 Marines w/Razorback Transport w/Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers and TL Lascannon turret
Troop2 - Veteran Sgt + 5 Marines w/Razorback Transport w/Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers and TL Lascannon turret
Troop3 - Veteran Sgt + 5 Marines w/Razorback Transport w/Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers and TL Lascannon turret
Troop4 - Veteran Sgt + 5 Marines w/Razorback Transport w/Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers and TL Lascannon turret
Troop5 - Veteran Sgt + 5 Marines w/Razorback Transport w/Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers and TL Lascannon turret
Troop6 - Veteran Sgt + 5 Marines w/Razorback Transport w/Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers and TL Lascannon turret
Total: 2000 points
Total Models: 48 "Marines", 1 Dreadnought, 8 Razorback transport tanks, 2 Whirlwind tanks
Originally I ignored points and had 2 identical HQ, 3 Dreadnoughts and 2 Predators + 1 Whirlwind. But to trim the points to 2000 adjusted it to my above list.
I'll admit that I'm not an experienced player and this list is NOT tested in the slightest.
I'm not really a fan of the LandRaider in terms of size and points despite its obvious value in terms of fire power and survivability.
My list is by no means 'tuned' and could be fine-tuned by more experienced people.
I realize that it is standard for a Space Marine force to have less models than an opposing force and in my AC list hope that the sheer numbers of armored vehicles with Lascannon's will offset the even smaller number of Space Marine models.
I'm hoping that a list such as this will be even more viable in the 4th edition rules where vehicles will have a better value with a Move & Shoot capability.
Otherwise, I haven't really given any good thought for actual tactics for such a force. I've obviously eschewed any Fast Attack ability and don't really have any dedicated CC capabilities. Should all the Razorbacks charge up the field 12", pop off smoke and begin alpha-striking enemy vehicles while the Marine dismount and fire from the shadow of the Razorbacks? Without more dedicated CC capabilities I don't think the Marines should really charge into HtH and/or sit in the Razorbacks for an extra turn...
Finally, is there way to differentiate this list from a standard "Rhino-rush" Blood Angel list?

A nice list, although 2,000 points of Imperial Guardsmen with God-only-knows how many lascannons and missile launchers would point and laugh... still, an intimidating amount of gunnery.
But as LordHat mentioned, indeed, White Scars, anyone?
Every whisper of the future from the Warp speaks of a hundred battles lost, a thousand lives devoured and a million enemies born. -- Inquisitor Lord Babel
well if you look at it if a marine armor company came against a IG armor company it would be a joke, the IG would wipe the floor with the marine tanks true something like the LandRaider would fare well against a Leman Russ but probably not some of the other tanks as most of them are built around the Rhino chassis and Rhino's armor is good but just not that great.
Tact is for people who give a damn. I'm not one of those people.
