The new DA sprue seems to have an assault cannon on it. Why would GW include an AC in DA tactical squads? This confuses me, since terminators come with 1 assault cannon already (especially since you cant field 2 in terminator squads)
I guess it might be to attract players who aren't using DA rules?
Otherwise im very confused as to why a tactical squad spur would include the only heavy weapon tactical marines cant use.
Anyone have any explanation for this?
Couldn't believe it (or see the image) until I saw the sprue on the GW website; it really is an assault cannon. Its definately got Dark Angel stuff on it though, so they give you this cannon to replace a more bland one.

Presumably, they've combined this with the veteran sprue to avoid having to release a "Deathwing Terminators" box or something.

Probably in there since we can combine termie weapons(whoopdie do!)....now if you actually bought the totally useless Assault Termies, or if you got them with the lame da army box, now you can put that assault cannon in your 5 man unit of termies.
In the mose recent White Dwarf, it made mention that the Dark Angels sprue is designed to be able to build five Veteran Dark Angels, or give your Space Marine box a Dark Angels peppering and feel.
So, they included that assault cannon for those putting Termies together, and want a DA-ish Cannon, IMO. *shrugs*

the answer is simple: under the new DA rules terminator squads can mix types (shooty and assault) but can only have one heavy weapon. this means that you can buy the DA box and an assault termie box to make your DA terminator squad, as opposed to having to buy a box of each type just for one squad.
