ok so for my imp guard ive been doing some money saving. I try to make the most out of my heavy weapon platoon backs by making 3 bases from the pack into either lascannons or heavy bolters. which is perfectly legal in a GT and the warhammer brb. but in the old imp guard mini range the missile launchers where held by 1 guy with another holding the ammo both on seperate infantry bases. I basicly converted the extra 3 crewmen from my HW plat onto regualr infantry bases holding a missile launcher with a regular guardsmen standing 1" away, would this be allowed in the GT or would it count as making the base size smaller rather than larger????

well, my friend did this. since he ran out of the bigger bases, he took to small bases, put the gunner on one and the bipod of the gun on the other, and connected the gun to the gunner. we allow him to use this as it is perfectly legal and up to the modeler. i always put my marine IC's on larger bases so they can get into close combat faster.
I hadnt thought about it in rules terms before but basically it is legal. you are arming two gaurdsmen. they are put on a bigger base for convinience of movement so there is no problem putting them on normal bases. ive done it with all of my missile launchers and as far as the rules are concerened the loader is just another squad member who isnt special in any way.
Ive modelled a heavy bolter being carried by two guardsmen (it looks cool and i wanted to see if it was physically possible!). this has the two on seperate 25mm bases and is also fine. the only problem is that the guns are mainly huge but as long as there is a weapon and two gaurdsmen on at least a 25mm base each you are fine (you might want to look at the older minis as these are still tournie legal eg. steel legion mordians etc)
hope this helps
Or you could bitz order for a plastic scout heavy nolter, little bit of greenstuff and shaving of pieces (like the shoulder pads).
but yeah it sounds legal.
Hey if marines can do it why cant IG?
In the rule book, on page 5, it says:
"The most important rule about playing games of Warhammer 40K is to have fun!"
I should hope its ok as i have used my missile launchers on a few of the guard models that i got in my battle force and if i go down to games workshop and someone tells me that because i have not modeled a loader i can't use my heavy weapons that i have worked so hard on i will not be a very happy gamer(
"Hey sarge, this lasgun is heavy. I wish we had something lighter."
