While making my army list, i keep imagining how many GKs i would want on the field at a certain time. And although many of you say 25-35 GK troops, i keep thinking thats too much and is overkill. For a 2000 Point army list, this is what i thought up using your "mass production" post.
825 Points Out of 2000 going into all Fast attack slots for 3 GK teleporting squads.
(x6) Grey Knights
(x2) Grey Knights w/ incinerators
So thats 27 troop Grey Knights so far.
Then i have a mini squad of GK w/ psycannons. 200 out of 2000 points into one troop slot.
(x2) Grey Knights
(x2) Grey Knights w/ psycannon
So now we have a squad of 5 GKs thats shootin, and (3) squads of 27 GK thats assaulting.
Then in my army list, my GM consists of 4 termie retinue. 424 out of 2000 Points into 1 hq slot.
Psycannon, meltabombs, icon of the just, holocaust
(x3) GK terminators
(x1) GK terminator w/ incinerator
So now we have 5 GK thats shootin, and a full force of 32 GK mixed HQ and Fast Attack for assaulting.
The last entry i have is Eversor. I thought with its infiltrate ability and assault range, i could tie up some squads preventing them from shooting at me.
Now this is my question. Do i REALLY need 32 GKS and an eversor in a 2000 point army list? I mean, is that overkill? How about the unit of 5 GK thats shootin? Thats all i really want to know. Thanks.
I say take as many of the grey guys as you can if your going for an all infantry army, grey nights come pretty well equipt as they come so dont need "tooling up"
Just one thing though you need an Inq to field an assasin
get rid of 1 ov the GK teliport sqds and then replace them with an inquisitor sqd (elites)
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.
~~ Surrender and serve me in life, or die and slave for me in death~~
How about a Purgation squad instead? 4x psycannons! Then i have a mini squad of GK w/ psycannons. 200 out of 2000 points into one troop slot.
(x2) Grey Knights
(x2) Grey Knights w/ psycannon1) you need an =I= of some kind to take assassins. The last entry i have is Eversor. I thought with its infiltrate ability and assault range, i could tie up some squads preventing them from shooting at me.
2) Instead of taking an assassin, take the extra points to allow that Purg squad I mentioned above.
Above all else, you only have one troops choice in this army (and you'd lose it if you did the Purg squad)! Take a second squad of GK like the psycannon squad you already have, or some ISTs.
EDIT: Know whats annoying? When you put a B and a ) next to each other and it makes . Annoying...
I like your army except, what if you face armor over 12? The only thing you have agaist it is melta-bombs which are almost impossible to work on skimmers. I would get a DN with a TLLC to round out ur army.
you only have one troop selection mate, and you must have an inquistor for an assassin.
i agree with Mega, i would get a 5-man purgation squad (with 4 psycannons) as they can pump out so much firepower it is not funny (well it is for u but not your enemy )
however, for your list i would suggest getting another 5-man troop squad (with two psycannons) as this will give u the same amount of shots (as the purgation squad), but u can choose multiple targets and it fills in the needed second troop choice
P.S. does anyone know wat this 'Warn Level' thingie is, as i can only see it on mine (proberly meant to do that but i don't know)
Sorry, i didnt post my whole army list as thats for the army list section of the forums. I was just trying to get a general idea of how many GK would be considered "standard" for 2000 points. I do have a squad of IST and an Inquisitor squad. I also have a dreadnought too.
I am working towards an all-GK force, and for anti-armor, I give my GM one, a Thunderhammer, or Hammerhand, both work well
as far as the assassin, with as many units as you are deepstriking, I wouldnt....if it was me, I would deep-strike the GM and retinue also, drop a bit of GK deepstrikers, for the assassin and a Purgation Squad...(MMMM...Ranged Gooodness )
But hey, what do I know
