I've been pondering my IG paint scheme for awhile, and I realized that the reason I don't want to paint IG the way they are on the box is that I"m afraid it would seem too common or a cop out. The desert khaki in green armor isn't a bad paint scheme, and works really well for a stock battlefield attire. The only thing stopping me is that when I present my army to an opponent, I don't want them to see the same IG colors over and over. Part of the fun of the hobby is in showing off the painting.
So my question is, how common do people who play IG paint the cadian 8th colors? If it's really common, I'll put the effort into painting a new scheme, if it's not, then I'll take the Cadian template and tailor it to my own personal tastes.
To clarify, either way would make me happy, If not cadian 8th, the other option would be a fortress gray armor, with grayish blue clothing. The gun and eagle symbols would be painted in a deep red to give an Inquisition type feel.
my cadian have an industrial city kind of scheme. the flak armor is a mix of 30% black, 60% white, 10% midnight blue and the clothes are goblin green washed with black ink, it looked pretty good for cities of death when i painted my buildings the same. "Awesome a small IG force, wait their they are holy crap"

I went with the dark green armour, slightly more olive green webbing/belt kit. Instead of khaki uniforms I went with a modern three colour desert camo like early gulf war 2 US.

I like camo patterns. IMO it's a good way to personalise your models.
The Cadian 8th ain't to common really. If you really like them, do them! They have a very nice colour scheme.
Mine are bleached bone with bestial brown shading on the cloth and codex grey armour. Works fine.
This is true. Most people I see who field IG dont actually use the cadian 8th colours. Sure, i personally have a few thousand points worth of cadian 8th, but I prefer to field my newer skitarii. The Cadian 8th ain't to common really. If you really like them, do them! My paint sceme is graveyard earth/desert yellow fatiques, red body armour, and lots of boltgun metal/silver bionics:
My apologies for the bad, out of focus image, its hard with this camera phone!

Also, you should google "garfield minus garfield". Awesome.
Hope to get some more responses, this is interesting to read everyone's take on it.
