does anyone know if GW gives suggestions for what traits to put to which marines?
i am seriously considering starting marines malevolent, but im not sure what traits to give them, i would go codex but they appear to have some very different views so i wanted to make them unique. i told my friend i wanted a shooty space marine army from the fluff and he suggested them as he seemed to think they favored long range fighting.
i found only one prior topic on them posted in 05' where honor your wargear and we stand alone were mentioned. this seems to fit, but can anyone think of anything better?
like a second adv. and disadv. ? i was thinking maybe the one that lets you take apothecaries, as it seemed to fit their purity thing.
edit: i was wrong it was we stand alone, not purity above all taht was the trait that takes no allies.

No games workshop doesn't give suggestions but we do.
Ok here are some that are good for shooty. See, but don't be seen. Just so you can get close and shoot up a good amount in begining. Suffer not the works of hereitcs, some good anti tank here. Trust your battle brothers can be shooty or assaulty. And possibly cleanse and purify really good for shooting close if you ever have to.
From the bits I've read about them, I'd say that Honour your Wargear and Cleanse and Purify definately suit their battle doctrine of pound the enemy with heavy weapons and ordinance before sending in specialised squads to pick apart the remains piece by piece. For drawbacks I'd probably think about looiking into any that leave your heavy support (mainly whirlwinds, devestators, and predators) mostly intact. As far as minor drawbacks, I'd stear clear from we stand alone since they are noted to fight alongside other imperial groups. Don't have my codex on hand, so I'm not actually sure what would be appropriate otherwise.

Hmmm...I would not draw quite the same conclusion.
The brief bit of info we have on them shows them using their Whirlwinds against the Orks on Armageddon and inflicting massive casualties on civilians in the process.
From that I would guess that if they had any traits, "Flesh Over Steel" would not be among them.
When confronted afterwards, they responded that no one was innocent and that they despise cowards more than anything.
Based on that, I would choose a trait or traits from either the "Fierce" or "Courageous" catagories.
