Ok, I was wondering what everyone uses Inquisitor/IL's for? I know not all of you do, but I look at the unit as a viable heavy shooty squad. When I have the points, I take him as a Lord and add three acolytes to his retinue. In smaller games, he's just the regular =I=.

Inquisitor Lord (HQ) @ 274 Pts
    (Psycannon, Artificer Armour)
3x Acolytes (Bolters & Power Armour)
    1x Mystic
    2x Sage
3x Servitors (2x Heavy Bolter, 1x Plasma Cannon)

    - or -

    Inquisitor (Elites) @ 186 Pts
    (Psycannon, Artificer Armour)
    1x Mystic
    2x Sage
3x Servitors (2x Heavy Bolter, 1x Plasma Cannon)

I only ask because I noticed that a lot of people like to take a CC-oriented Inquisitor. I don't understand that, myself, seeing as he's a S3 model in an army full of S6 GK, but I guess it might make sense if you used the =I= as an allied unit.

Inquisitors are very versatile. From gearing him for long range with a Psycannon, and being able to re-roll bc of the Sages....to giving him Hammerhand so he has great strength for anti-armor....I use 2 in some armies.....both elites, each geared for a different purpose, very useful...

I run two forms of inquistor retinues.

the shooty squad with psycannon, termie armor plasma cannon, 2 heavy bolters, mystic, 2 sages... same as most

in my radical list which is all hand to hand oriented

Inquistor Lord --Daemon Hammer, Holocaust, Icon of the Just
    3 acolytes with storm shields
    2 Combat servitors
    2 Familiars
    2 heirophants

4 power fist, and 4 thunder hammer hits a turn can put a damper on anyones day.

I have a fun Inquisitor build I use, for close combat and tank busting.

Inquisitor Lord w/Daemonhammer and Plasma Pistol, Icon of the Just, Artificer Armour and Icon of the Just

2 Sages, 2 Acolytes one with Artificer Armour, one with Storm Shield, 2 Combat Serv. one with Mulit-melta, one with Plasma Cannon, and one Mystic (?)

    Destroy Daemon (?)

I know, its expensive..but..OUCH..he can BRING THE PAIN...but

2+ armor save, 4+ Invulnerable save, S 6 hits....total of 5 wounds....actually more.....hmm....and not much more than a Grand Master, and you get a couple GOOD shots at long range, and the ability to re-roll.....

Could it be, this is as good/better as a GM ??? What do you all think ???

Missing the 5 toughness of A GM though..that kinda hurts, and one Initiative...but what do you all think ? Inquisitor or GM ???

LOL, i use mine exactly the way you do sometimes. They work wonders against almost any army. Have you seen what this does to a mob of orks? I killed almost 9 space marines in squad from just a single volley, trust me they rock, just give them a nice good meatshield.
You know what they say, if you dont like the weather in houston...go back to where you came from

GM by far. He gets free Termie armor, free DSing, free S+2 Force Weapon, free Stormbolter, higher toughness, higher strength, higher initiative, termie bodyguard...

Real question I have is do Psycannon Bolts work for a group? Like, if I buy them for my =I=, do the servitors get the benefit of the bolts? I have a sneaking suspicion it *doesn't* work that way, but that would rock my socks...

Nah, Psybolts only work for the model you buy them for.
