Hi, I started This thread to post your own personal favorite Inquisitor configurations. I'll start things off, heres my personal favorite....
Cheap, gives him good shooting capabilities, and should he find himself in cc, he's still S6 and has a 4+ invuln in cc. For retinue common place would be 2 sages, mystic, familiar, gun servitors, and possibly some alcolytes in carapace if points allow.
2000pts Orks 4-2-1
That's a pretty good balanced inquisitor, although for my points I'd forgo the CC aspect entirely and just give him the standard psycannon, 2 sages, auspex, and 3 gun servitors. I think most people here don't deviate from that too much in a competitive list. Hopefully the next DH codex will allow for more useful options, possibly better S/T, etc.
34pts, =I= with 2x mystics and bolt pistol + ccw.
stoopidly cheap and non-threatening, until termies/daemons arrive and gett peppered with stormbolter shots! *yum* sometimes i wish i had a Leman ass for free shopts, but i spam PAGK and dont bother with the meatmen takes table quarters too! hoorah!
instructions- park in middle of board, or toward closest icon (preferably in cover)
cheap, and gives me my Eversor:shifty:
i've been thinking of dropping the assassin *gasp!* for a little bit, and trying a multimelta, or Inferno Pistol cannoness (cheers agin for that idea, Diggums!)
and the sniping IC psycannon-toter is by far nearly the best, apart from adding plasma servitor + heavy bolter servitors + sages + mysitc, or something to that effect...
will try to try your storm shield hammerhand =I=, gen.nehring! (try to try to try...)

Firebase!!! oh and i'd stick a nulrod on the lord against eldar players (assuming he/she plays harleys and providing null rods nullify VoT)
Theres really not much you can do with Daemonhunters Inquisitors. I'd like to see some really radical ones for me to try.
As nifty as the idea behind close-combat, butt-kicking inquisitors is -- I mean, look at that awesome codex cover art! and all the great wargear options! -- it's terrible for actual, in-game execution. There's a reason the Ordo Malleus has a chamber militant in the form of the Grey Knights. Inquisitors are the intelligence gatherers, the investigators, possibly the field commanders. But they are not the fighters. When they show up on the battlefield, it makes sense that they would sit back and shoot from (relative) safety rather than look to mix it up with the enemy right in his face.
Honestly, I've started thinking of "radical" inquisitors as the ones who insist on fighting up close and personal. That's just not very smart, ya know? Shows a lack of creativity, and an unwillingness to intelligently use the fantastic tools readily and eagerly available. (Can anybody say "assassins" and "Grey Knights"?) Any inquisitor worth his salt knows that he can't possibly compete with the gene seed of the Emperor himself, so he shouldn't even try. Let the zealots be zealots, and direct them from afar with your superior knowledge and overarching vision of what needs to happen.
Inquisitors should always be shooty. Alone with a psycannon is good; anchoring that standard shooty firebase is often better, if practically more expensive, and therefore not always advisable.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Inquistor with Psycannon and Emperor's talot
65 point that help get move first and pack with a psycannon, with independent character rule.
A friend suggest me another nasty setup involve massive plasma, Inquistor with combi-plasma, 3 warrior with plasma gun, acolyte with combi-plasma and 2 sage for reroll on a rhino that have smoke and extra armour.
If your enemy have some expensive stuff like terminators/waithguard/ to shot at. it can earn its point back in 1 fire frenzy.
For total of 242 point, a rhino deliver the squard to target, 2 shot at bs5. 6 shot at bs4 and 6 shot at bs3, a total of 14 shot of rapid fire in first volley, then 6 shot of plasma + 8 bolter and 2 las pistol shots if they dont got shot to pieces. Oh, dont forget the bs4 2 shot strombolter on rhino too. I think that is the most close and personal a Inquistor can get anyway.
For true close combat action. let the grey knights handle them

Oohh. The =I= question. I'm glad I wandered over here from WH today. I like the =I=. mostly because they let me get the Asassins.
plus, for WH, it's nice to be able to let the HQ or elite slots do the heavy shooting, and take exorcists for the heavy slot choices.
for me it's not just a question of =I= loadout and retinue, but it's a question also of which FLAVOR of =I=. both DH and WH =I= have their advantages. the DH Inq. is more of an offensive threat with his retinues. I think the WH Inq. is a more surviveable, defensive Inq.
Both can fill similar roles, my favorites being the shooty roles. Both go well with Plas. Cannon and 2Hbolter servitors with 2sages attached. I like that the DH can also throw on a Psycannon, and add to the threat.
I find I also like the DH with Scourging, and a chiurgeon. the WH inq. and his acolytes can also take carapace armor. This helps with the mixed armor rules a lot, and helps you keep the Plas . Canon and Sages alive longer.
I like to take one of each flavor, to use both the tarot and the leiber heresius. it's nice. helps balance the scales for when you face Tau, or necron, or chaos bike swarms, or just about anyone. I thtink of both DH and WH as control style armies, and these tools help us be in control of the battle.
I've also had good luck with the plasma rhino of doom variant of the =I= either Inq. will do. load the Inq. with a nice assault weapon, 3 vet stormtroopers with plasguns, 3 acolytes with plasguns, rhino rush, unload, and fire. Sure, they'll die. but that many shots of plasma kill most things.
I'm playing an ambush scenario tomorrow night from the back of the Big Grey Book, and I'm using both shooty DH and WH Inq. it's a split force mission, with hidden troop setup. I've made a mirror force with 2 of everything. I get to go first. He has a column to set up in. the opponent has to get of the board. I have to destroy half his troops or more. should be good times, as long as I don't have to face Ork SpeedFreaks, or Chaos bikers on crack.
2x H/B Servitors
1x Plasma Cannon Servitor
I like the idea of the Heroic =][= lord landing on the planet with all his retinue.. and when they all die, he can still cause some chaos on his own.
Much must be risked in war.

Phew, well, it's been a while since I've been in the forums but I'm back for the time being and I've decided to make this thread my welcome back thread (be proud, be very proud :yes
Ahh, my favorite inquisitor?
inc. ccw, combo-meltagun, emporer's tarot
3x veteran guardsman
inc. 1x meltagun, 2x plasma guns
inc. extra armor, smoke launchers
~ Recently I've really started to dig the callidus assassin, so this guy and his squad is my excuse to get that ever-so-awesome "Word in your ear :ninja:." Plus in almost every game, this is one of my anti-tank squads. Empoerer's tarot, I personally, think is a great item to have as that +1 to dice roll can make or break the game (pending on rolls, into who gets first turn, etc.).
