Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've generally had very good results from my Land Raider Crusader, and wondered what other players think of them.
I don't remember seeing any in the army lists for a long time.
Anyone got opinions on this subject?
I love my LRC. I use it to transport my kitted out Techmarine with Assault Terminators across the field. Many players seem deathly afraid of it. The ammount of fire power that goes towards it allows my two dreadnoughts to cross fairly unmolested. Sure I've lost it a few times to a Necron players warriors, but for the most part it survives. On the downside, I haven't had that much luck in killing things with it.

LRC's make great line breakers. I've yet to use one yet, but I can imagine that I'd rush it up to the front lines, drop some deadly cargo, and just shoot till there's no tomorrow.
Makes a great weapons platform, transport and fire magnet. It's very versatile.
Crusader is invariably more useful than the 'standard' land raider in my experience.
And since it costs the same in the DA codex, I am a happy camper.

So many guns:w00t: It has six bolters, a TL assault cannon, multi melta and can have pintle storm bolter and HK missile. All worth taking other than the HK, and while its short ranged, it has mass shots for when you do get there. (19 within 12", 13 within 24"). It is super-good.

I like to take my crusader and offset the price increase over other options by putting in it a non termie HQ with librarian, chaplain and vets w power fist. The softening up with other weapons before they jump out in assault makes the termie armour unnecessary to defeat most things!!
If only you were a Marine - you too could savour the taste of victory!
I have recently put my LRC back into my army lists (as a Black Templar Player I have been fielding mostly foot slogging armies recently), and the results have been mixed to say the least. In the 4 games it has been destroyed twice and and immobilised twice. Interestingly though, it has been decisive in at least two of the four games for the volume of fire power that has gone down range. I have yet to play my regular Tyranid opponent with a list with the LRC included, and I am hopeful that that the volume of fire going down range will be sufficient to stem the tide of Tyranids charging toward me.
Perhaps one of the (theoretical) advantrage that these things have is that they count as scoring even when being taken as transports (which is not usually the case for a transport.)
As a BT player I am curious however that they (GW) have decided that the Dark Angel version of the Crusader - that the BT invented - apparently holds one more marine than the BT version. DA's must be smaller

Greetings all. Forgive my ignorance. I have never played with a LRC nor have I ever played against one. But I wonder, why does it only have twin-linked Bolters on it's side? Why weren't twin linked Heavy Bolters placed there instead? Two twin linked H. Bolters on each side sounds so more appropriate for a heavy assault tank. Any thoughts?
