    2 apothecaries?

can i have 2 apothecaries in a command squad?

cause if you take cleanse and purify trait it allows your vet sgt to be one and then you can have the normal one as well.

And are apoths worth their pts? 25pts is steep and they probabaly save 4 marines a game (60pts) but you are forgoing the bolters

Thx in advance for the help

It's the Purity above all trait.

I don't know if you could take 2 apothecaries in your Command. But I don't see the use actually. As for the "your missing out a bolter". I'd say gear up a Chaplain and a Close combat command squad. There is a champion in there too. (that is, if you take him.. but at +20 points it's pretty decent)

You could load up your Command with plasma weapons. You could after all save your misfires. Unless you're really unlucky.

If it's worth the points. I'd say yes. Anything that saves, or least tries to save any casualty is worth it. How come he saves only 4 marines? He could save 6. And if you field a Apothecary in each squad you could even save an additional 36. It's pretty cost effective. It's just pretty hard if he gets into CC. So best avoid that by getting him more in the back.

The trait "Purity Above All" actually only allows Veteran -or- Tactical squads to upgrade its Veteran Sergeant to be an Apothecary...not Command squads...so I guess you can't.

Sorry to rain on your parade .

O i see where i made the mistake. thx AOXES. and the only reason i said 3 is that normally i would use a drop pod army with purity and that other trait (2 assault weapons) and so they take min a turn to arrive, so its just and avg per game sort of thing.

It's the Purity above all trait.
    Sorry my mistake.

If you're using apothecaries take plasma guns, they can heal overheat wounds on your turn and prevent damage in theirs. Just some food for thought. They can do double duty and practically negate the drawback of plasma weapons.

Apothecaries can be worth their points, however, they always aren't the best.

You see, the superior armour usually means that you won't be taking many wounds. Plus, the raised cost of the Apothecary makes the numbers in your army dwindle, and that is very damaging for a space marines list.

It's up to you if you want to take them. Personally, they aren't my first choice.

I played a game with a Aptechary in every one of my Tacticalsquads just last night. If it wasn't for him I would have lost the game. I just merely just won just because he couldn't get any kills. They were especially good to have since i had my two Plasma guns Rapidfiring most of the game. Yes, I use the combo Purity above all and clence and purify. They are a good combo.

Although, regarding you question about 2 Apothecarys in one Command squad thats out of the question since only Veteran squads and Tactical squads are aloud this upgrade.

    Cool idea though.

Another thing you're forgetting. You don't lose a Bolter.
If they can take from the armoury with T Hon, why give them no weapons to begin with? Do the Standard Bearer & Champion lose their weapons?
No. The Champion just gains a different set of gear and the Standard bearer/Apthecary gain the equipment ON TOP OF the original kit.
You wouldn't want to get that one wrong, you're being unfair to yourself that way.

Yeah, all the apothecaries in my list have power fists (they give life and take it away in equal measure). If your already dumping the 15 pts for termie honours, you might as well give them something useful.
