I own the codex, but whats the deal with these tank armies? I know they are ridiculously expensive, but that is fine with me. Are they tournement legal? Where are the rules for them?I am 42-0 with a 1000 to 1500pt standard army, nothing special and since most of them are now looking at tactica and getting more difficult, I'd like to step it up to...
"I am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight."
The Devils Rejects (Imperial Gaurd Specialist Force) are... UNDEFEATED.
ok other than using mechanise doctrine, there are 2 tank lists:
Armoured company - semi legal - codex from GW web site, wont be allowed in tourneys but ok ususally for campaign weekends
Armoured battle group - Imperial Armour 1 - legal in anything allowing forgeworld rules, pretty much same as above, no tourneys
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Also as far as expense goes they arent that much more than a normal army unless you go all forgeworld.
a battleforce, three chimeras, An AF boxed set (these are rare but are a great price buy them while you see them), a chimera and a few bits for a command would cost ooo £160 quid. (this is for mechanised)
For all tank, say 5 russes or equiv and a mech squad for building taking, thatd be £150 or there abouts perhaps a tenner more for extras. (thats and amroured company non-forgeworld)
For forgeworld depending on your list add another £10 per tnak before postage so say an extra £60 ish.
Now an all foot force woudl be oo 4 troops boxes 3 heavy weapons boxes and a few blisters so ooo £152 as long as you only spent £20 on blisters.
They are much of a muchness really. (unless you go all forgeworld!)
As for rules see the above post.
As for effectiveness, Against people who are getting more experienced The amroured company lists are difficult and will either win or lose. Mech lists are difficult to play but if you're up for a challenge then go for it.
Stick up your list and we'll have a look for you,
Also if you are unsure of tactics do ask we are happy to help!
hope that helps
