Does anyone know any tips on how to use all of those left over guns to get more bang for your buck
2000 pts imperial guard army
well in a Heavy weapon box set of 3, you can technically get 9 weapon combos easily
3 Mortars, doesn't matter about the crew, all you gotta do is make em look like loaders using bits
3 Missile launchers, give em to basic infantry
3 Lascannons/Heavy bolter/Autocannons, stick em on the tripods and again give em crew, and there you go
then distribute amongst the men as you see fit.
if your really brave you can stick other weapons on sand bags or boxes etc, and use every weapon
well stella pretty much nailed it on the head, though one thing i do is if you really dont want the missile launchers for whatever reason (point cost, ect) i attach them to the back of some of my cadian troops to make them look more diversified.
Nubblet thats pure briliance. I have been trying to find more ways to diversify my ML crews and the idea of haveing one straped tot he back while the guy carying it is runing is perfect.

I actually have 3 teams carefully positioned to use all of their weapons interchangeably and still look like they are supposed to have them. It can be done. Yes, I still can only field 3 teams at once, but I can give them any weapons I like. I have also used a friends leftover weapons on regular troops to an effect that I really like, though some may not. If you are interested, I will post pictures.

i used the city fight buildings, take a spare lscannon and hav it leaning agsint a wall with tw guarsmen on a base

If you really don't like Mortar Teams that much but don't use the bipod for RPGS, you can't saw the top off a bit and stick a hvy bolter on. It actually looks pretty cool.
As MrPuffyHair said, the mortar stands are easily convertible into extra Heavy Weapon stands.
I use 1 kneeling and 1 standing crew for my H.Wpns, therefore using the 6 guys you get with the weapons boxes to make 6 H.Wpns teams, with 6 normal grunts added from the infanty boxes.
I've used my Missile Launchers with basic IG grunts, and for my SMurfs, giving me another squad of Devastators for a very cheap price.
Mortars can also be used as Rocket/Missile tubes, especially for vehicles. For example: 3 mortars make a good Havoc Launcher for Chaos. Alternatively they also make handy bits of terrain.
I used four of my spare Autocannons, with Chaos WFB Warriors, to make a AC Havoc squad. Some of the spare Lascannons and Heavy Bolters converted and old Rhino into a Chaos Predator.
Another varient you can make is the Tarantula weapon systems from Forge World. I'm sure you can find someone who will tell their rules, which are very simple. You can see what they look like by going to the Forge World website.
Don't forget about trading with your friends for bits from their spares boxes too.
Whenever possible, base all your weapons and crew seperately, on the smaller bases. Then you can change the H.Wpns the crew are using, and take casulaties of with ease, and without arguement.
Hope this helps

Home Depot ->
1/16" drill bit to use in pin vice.
On the gunner arms, drill holes deep enough to flush magnet against and on the body do the same where the arms goes. Do the same for the missile launcher arm.
The tricky part is to make sure that you align the magnets accordly so that they attach the arms to the body instead of repel them. Super glue the magnets in the holes and voila...you can interchange the weapons accordly to the opponents. This way, you can use each weapon as you need.
After that point, you can use any weapon as you see fit for the mission.
Where the heck did all them guardsmen come from?
Great Wolf! Is that the howl of the 13th?
