I read that the Order millitant of a convent is lead by the Cannoness. The only one the Canoness answers to is the Prioress of the Convent. Who is this Prioress? I wonder if she can fight, and if she could some day be a special character, or hq choice for sisters of battle. Any one know a little more?
Well, I suppose that she could be introduced at some time in the future as a special character. But I'm unaware of any such character (special or otherwise) at the present time.
My guess is that the Prioress had to have been a Canoness at some time in her past so , yes, I suppose the Prioress would have combat abilities.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
The Prioress is the leader of an Order, and the whole order. There are also two main Prioress's but I'll have to get up an inferno back issue and my ancient sob codex for that. So I'll get back to you, but allthough fluff wise it is only in very rare conditions that any prioress is even seen on the battlefield there is one inferno issus that gives out a prioress as a speacial character option.
The sororitas are split up into two main convents, the covenent Sanctorum which is based on Opehilia VII and control’s the Order of the Bloody Rose, Order of the Martyred Lady and the Order of the Valorous Heart. The other half is the convent Prioris which is based on Terra and controls the Order of the Sacred Rose, Order of the Ebon Chalice and the Order of the Argent Shroud. There are two head Prioresses who govern either convent Sanctorum or Prioris. A Prioress is answerable only to the Ecclesiarch himself. They form the spiritual head of the sisterhood. It is rare but not unheard of that a Prioress may accompany an order on a war of faith.
Helena the vitreous whom is the prioress of the Convent Sanctorum can be used as a speacial character see “The Citadel Journal issue 49 page 24 for more on this speacial character.
And in the Witch Hunters flyer, yes the Prioress is named as being a new HQ choice along with the Cannoness, (IIRC)
Sorry to disapoint everyone but there is no playable Prioress, she is a older sister that came threw the ranks and being the most powerful (politicaly speaking) sister in any order she preaty much is simply a paper pusher......
were did you find that out? the prioress can rise to her position through any of the given Orders, wether it be the order Hospitaler or the order militant.
Sister mel is correct. Helena the Virtous, was also given stats earlier than that. I only recently got a hold of the 2nd edition sisters codex, and found rules for feilding her as a special character. She is not as well trained for combat as the other sisters, but she apears on the battle feild none the less.
What i meant was that on the current codex: Witch Hunters there is no entry for prioress, the HQ slots are: Canoness and Palantine; the Palantine being under the canoness.
But if you think about it, the prioress will have too many things to think about, meaning, running the all Order, keeping contact with other organisations and the all ever present "Politics" .... yes, as much as i would love to deny it, there haver to be a lot of intrigue to maintain or to get such a position...
If you can have rules for Lord Solar Maccharius or Ursarkar Creed, you could have rules for the Prioress. Logic doesn't really enter into it - why the prioress would be on the back side beyond leading a patrol mission which just happens to run into Nightbringer, I leave to your imagination.
