everyone talks about how they wish there was an 'in between' Grey Knight model for between the Brother Captain and the Grandmaster. Well, i have been doing some thinking latly, and if you just outfit them with terminator armour, and one psychic power, you got yourself a 123pt model (somewhat in between) that has a force weapon (remember they count as a power weapon) a cool psychic power, a psychic hood. and a good hand to hand model too. It really has everything a grey knight has. But actual GOOD psychic powers in exchange for the psycannon.
i guess a better in between model would be the Champlain Reclusiarch in Term. Armor. But it doesnt seem very fluffy seeing as how they are not psychic. or are they? maybe i missed something...
anyways, here is what i figured, in most cases, the dreadnought is 5pts cheaper (to go with an SM base list) you can get two min. troop choices with tank hunter and a lascannon, that should be fun. and you have 5 or 6 cheap guys to boot so that you can add bulk and force to your army. Two strength 10 lascannons (when facing armour at least) a cool libarian (or master or chaplain, w/e your cup of tea) lower costing dreadnoughts, better tank choices, and the option to ally a total of 20 PAGK, 10 FAGK, and 20 GKT.... for smaller point games where you need bulk to your force and options to take out armour, i think a base Space Marine list is most optional, 210pts for 10guys with tank hunter skill and two lascannons. plus a libarian you can kit out uber like, and all the grey knights you want....
anyways, this is my thought, but i was a bit confused on some things...
what are the better psychic powers for SM librarians when teamed up with grey knights? like what would mesh well?
for tank hunters skill, do you need to spend the X points for EVERY model in the squad, or can you just spend it for the Lascannon guy?
A Chaplains 'litanies of hate', does it allow PAGK's to reroll as well? or just normal SM? because if you had a chaplain as leader, and you allied Grey Knights and had him in that squad, Grey Knights are technically Space marines, just elite ones, maybe im wrong? any ideas?
i woulda posted this in the SM forum, but i figured i would post here, since it is more Grey Knight Specific.
anyone have any comments? or should i just stick this in the SM section?
Well, I've always found Holocaust to be useful against horde armies and Hammerhand does have its moments. However, don't forget that the DH psychic powers focus on, well, fighting daemons. I think they are fine in the respect and really don't want any SM clone powers coming our way in the 4th edition codex (when it comes out in the future).
As for a Reclusiarch in a GK army. They aren't psykers first off. The only SM who are psykers are Libbies. Secondly they don't really belong in a GK army as GKs are only Space Marines by a very loose referance. We don't follow the Codex Astartes, and we don't have company level oraganization, making the Chaplains job more or less obsolete for GKs.
As for your comments on the SM based list. Its true you can take that but a SM Libby won't stack up to a GK Grand Master in CC or Shooting. The GM is S6 and will almost always have a psycannon. Aside from that, allying with SM does limit you to 30 PA GK (2 troops and 1 FA) which is less then most pure GK players will have in their army.

then as an SM based list, (at 1000pts) knowing my list idea (if you check the army list forum) other then Librarian, which i thought was most fluffiest, what do you think is the best leader idea?
