Playing with wysiwyg do you have to model, the special equipment ie: carapace armor and chem enhaler or is it as long as you paid the points it assumed that your units have them? I am new to IG and as far as i can see models do not have any of the special equipment modeled on them. One could assume that in the models backpacks they could carry some of the items. How much different would carpace armor look then normal flak?
I would say that WYSIWYG dictates you must show all of your upgrades, meaning you at least need to add kneecaps or something to represent the carapace upgrade, probably gas masks or mouth-hoses for the chem-inhalers, etc.
That's the play-it-safe way for tournaments anyways. I would definitely recommend play-testing the doctrines a lot first, before doing any permanent modelling.
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
Yeah, for tournaments you deffinatly want to add something for wysiwyg. Personally, as a user of the carapace doctrine I have used greenstuff to make knee pads and albowpads, just to bulk them up a little.
Some of the doctrines you just can't model, such as iron discipline or sharpshooters. Well, I guess for sharpshooters you could model like, scopes or something, but who wants to convert 100+ lasguns with scopes? (it would look cool though...hmmmm)

The GT pack says that upgrades must be represented on the majority of models, however, I would agree with Abraham that it is good practice to represent it on all of your models. Besides, if you are making carapace for half your models then you would probably be mass-producing anyway.
Personally, I would advise you to get some plasticard and cut out some armour plates for around their waists, thiese are simple shapes that can be prduced on mass and I would have though it would easily be enough to make your models WYSIWYG, though you might get away with just the knee pads.
I wasnt sure if the stormtroopers were wearing carapace armor. I knew it had the same save. I have greenstuff and tons of plasticard on hand so I will have to test out if i like the doctrine or not I just dont think i would use it all the time. I have on hand lots of tiny magnets I may be able to magnetize some bulkier armor plates to some of my models.
