Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey everybody, just wanted to share this funny story with you. Today at me local GW, i played 3000 points of Space Wolves vs. Tyranids. The game was going fairly well despite my poor dice rolls. But then, i charged his Hive Tyrant with 10 Blood Claws and a Rune Priest. The Rune failed to do anything despite his force weapon, and so did my power fist. Then, my power sword wielding Blood Claw, hit with all 4 of his attacks and rolled four sixes to wound!! The Tyrant failed all of his inv. and was slain. A mighty act that even Russ would be proud of!
Right on. Did you give that Claw a name? Models that distinguish themselves on the battlefield earn that honor in my army. They become characters--without any special rules most times, but sometimes when a "character" earns enough laurels i'll promote him to a veteran sergeant or even make him the captain. This is, of course, after the Captain has become a battlefield casualty FOR THE LAST TIME, DANGIT!!!
It happens. I promoted my Sergeant to a Veteran after he killed a Carnifex with a knife.
He was charging solo - his squad had been wiped out by aforementioned Carnifex's shooting - hit with all attacks, wounded with two, and then we watched as the Carnifex rolled a magnificent pair of 1's. He was already weakened from a lascannon shot earlier, but still - that's one hell of a way to end a combat.

WOOT! Stuff like this makes me happy inside... and it would defo please Russ too! I hope you remembered the exact model that done this act 'o' heroism and have upgraded him to the ranks of the wolf guard.
2 questions though...
1) Did you win the rest of the battle?
2) How do you know the power fist done jack all? its I1!

Exiled until 5thED redo...
A similar thing happened at our store's last megabattle. One assault marine staved off an onslaught from 10 Khorne Beserkers, 3 Crisis Suits, 7 Ork Outriders, and an Ork Dreadnought for 4 turns before dying. Thus, Commander Norris was born.
That's pretty amazing though, I've never been that lucky with a BC. Actually if anything I'm extremely unlucky with BC's, since there was this one game where my Blood Claws (led by my Wolf Lord) charged a squad of Fire Warriors, failed to kill a single one, lost 3 of their own, and actually fell back. T'was quite sad...
Lone Wolves (Space Wolves) - 2092 pts
Hive Fleet Basilisk (Tyranids) - 1767 pts
Chaos Fleet - 900 pts
I love the way that these strange things can happen. Back in the day when Terminators enjoyed a 3+ save on 2d6 there were many stories of Gretchin and other equally pathetic creatures felling these mighty warriors after a terminator came up snake eys on those all important saving rolls.
In fact I think that these one-in-a-million events happened a little too often and that's why the armour save system changed to ensure that tough units actually are tough and weak units are actually weak, but even then, it is still only going to be most of the time.
I definitely think you should name your Blood Claw, in addition I feel that it is appropriate to model a trophy for such a display of prowess.
Rock on soldier
Last Friday my blood claws had their chance... One made a courageous effort, but it was the scouts who made the match. (shooting melta and plasma pistol shots from an impassable cliff at Nurgle marines headed right for them...)

To awnser crucial's question i did win the game with a massacre result. Both my Blood Claw units were fighting with the fury of Russ, massacreing though his army one carnifex at a time. Don't you guuys think its fun when you are able to massacre into 3 units at once.
